Does anyone know if BA kopi SS a one time bottling?

Or does Alesmith plan to rebrew and bottle it again?

    Thanks for the information!

What do they normally do with their releases through the year? 2013 had Kopi and Vietnamese Speedways, just different coffee types ?

Just to be somewhat pedantic about it, the BA Kopi is/was not the target. The target is Kopi Speedway, and throwing some in a barrel to see how it turns out is sort of icing on the cake. The question you are really asking if they are going to brew Kopi Speedway again. Everything indication I've gotten is that there are no plans at this time. Getting the Kopi coffee is quite costly.

To answer PG2G's question above, there really is no schedule for Speedway variants - they just happen. I'm under the impression that you'll see Vietnamese coffee Speedway at least once a year now, but again I could be wrong.

The thing is that the whole world is f'ed up. If any of us eat meat, wear leather, or purchase anything from places that sell these items we are all contributing to the problem. It's a hard conversation to have with ones self.

One of the bartenders in the tasting room told me they would do it again, but I wouldn't count on it. Personally, I think that of all the different coffee variations that they have done, the Kopi is one of my least favorite. I would love to see the Nicaraguan or Kauai single lot bottled.

Bottled Kauai Speedway would be great.

Don't you have this backwards? They barrel age the base then add the coffee. They don't arrive at Kopi Speedway and throw it in the barrel as icing on the cake. The coffee was the icing on the cake, or it would have simply been regular BA Speedway. They've done Kopi Speedway many times and I imagine they'll do it many more times. Breweries pass the cost of ingredients on to the consumer, so I don't get the expense comment, unless you're saying it's purely a cash flow issue and they have difficulty getting the cash to make a purchase of Kopi Luwak coffee. I don't know what you'd be basing that on.

So, to clarify, you're answering the question by telling the OP that it could be brewed again but it also might not be brewed again? Case closed!

To clarify, I'm answering two questions. One, I've asked a number of people there, including the guy that like owns the place, if they are doing Kopi or BA Kopi again. The answer: probably not. Two, PG2G asked if Speedway has a normal release schedule for their BA beers, and I said no, though they might be getting fairly regular with the Vietnamese releases.

As far as your comments about how the BA coffee beers are done, color me educated. I had no idea the coffee was added after they pulled it out of the barrel, though that would make sense I guess.

2012 Speedway day at O'briens was where I had it, but I haven't seen it anywhere since then.

Yeah, same. 2012 O'Briens and have yet to see it again. Would love to see this replace Kopi moving forward.

Doesn't regular speedway already have coffee in it? I thought these variants were just using different types of coffee instead of the regular ryan bros. coffee. Does regular BA Speedway get its coffee added after being barreled?

Yes, they add the coffee after the barrel aging. They barrel age Speedway sans coffee. I guess it would be virgin speedway?

There are degrees. You can buy conflict diamonds, you can buy diamonds, or you can by other gems that aren't diamonds.

You can buy crappy coffee force fed to civets... or you can buy the dozens (hundreds?) of far more delicious single origin coffees sourced in more responsible manner.

In this case, quality and morality are aligned, there's a clear better choice.

Or you could just throw up your hands and say: all decisions have some grey area therefore all choices are equal! Which... yeah....
