Thanks for the heads up, I wasnt sure they were open yet. I'll go Friday for lunch.

FYI might want to tell your friend that http://rogueislandgroup.com/menus/ is impossible to read. Lighten the background design and darken the red for each option.

I love the selection of beers. However, the beer prices are high for the area, especially considering they are all local. Your friend will have to monitor beer sales after a month and see. $7 for a Narraganset draft is a lot. I think McCormicks charges $3.50. He might just consider removing the prices from the online menu all together. The food prices aren't there, so why are the beer prices? Someone will probably assume that the food prices are really high if they think the beer prices are really high.

Regardless, I will check them out this week.

Thanks for the tips, there are prices on the food menus, small numbers at the end of each description.

I didnt even notice them there. I will certainly give them a try as the menu looks good.

Very quickly and in the smallest of nut shells (and no doubt a repeat of things already said):

Since you're in Lincoln, you're closest craft watering hole is Stevie D's. Also, for bottle shops, while Nikki's is close, don't overlook Washington Hill Liquors in Lincoln, which is nothing overly impressive, but has some solid stuff.

As for stuff outside of northern RI:

For bars be sure to check out:
    The Scurvy Dog
    The Avery
    Track 84
    Doherty's east Ave.

For restaurants that do right by beer be sure to check out:
    Julian's
    Louie Fuller's
    The Grange
    Harry's Burgers and Beer

For bottle shops be sure to check out:
High Spiritis (North Main St., Providence)
Bottles (in the plaza on the corner of Gano and Pitman in Providence)
    ENO (Westminster St., downtown Providence)
Yankee Spirits (just over the line in Attleboro, MA)

    Places not worth visiting:
Trinity Brewhouse (beer is shit. I have given it chance after chance and been let down repeatedly)
    Wickenden Pub
    English Cellar Ale House

I've been hitting up Doherty's Ale House on Jefferson Boulevard alot lately because 1) with 100+ taps there's something for everyone (Limbo IPA, Victory Lagers, Babayaga, etc.) 2) the food is decent and the portions are suitable for 'Merican appetites 3) it's family friendly 4) the place is huge so it's suitable for large parties.

If your ever in South County, there are a few nice shops around with a good selection. The liquor store in Wakefield has the best selection of beer around there and has a wide selection of singles for a mix-and-match 6 pack. The liquor store in Narragansett Pier has a nice selection as well, just a bit smaller. Charlestown liquor store has a good selection as well.

Fat Belly's Pub ? Thought you might mention it. They are all over RI. Went there once and didnt mind it. Had a Foolproof IPA for 4 bucks.

I went to the one next to the Warwick Mall. I asked the waitress what the beer menu was and she said "I am the beer menu" and read them off the top of her head. Thats not a good sign, eh ? Even so, Ill take a Foolproof IPA for 4 bucks. Its better on draft than from the can.

IMO Fat Belly's is one step above Ruby Tuesdays and the like...

I get the sense that that's the category they are in. Like I said, I haven't been, so I won't pass judgement, but the vibe that a fake-Irish, run of the mill pizza menu and multiple location place gives me is not a good one.

That place looks pretty interesting. Did you check them out?

    Yes I did.

The inside is very nice. You can tell they spent a lot of time on details. We got there at 12:15 and were the only ones there. By the time we left at 1pm, the place was packed.

The positives: Menu has a lot of interesting choices. I ended up with their corned beef sandwich, with steak fries. They have a homemade ketchup that is really good. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was very tasty.

The negative: It was expensive. A sandwich and two drinks with tax and tip came out to $30. Don't know that I will be spending that kind of money regularly on lunch. I'd like it if they had more under $10 options.

I wont argue that its a small step above RubyTuesday. I never been there and was in the area and wanted to go. Will I go back ? Probably not. I wouldnt recommend it if youre hardcore beer geek.

I'm not so picky with beer honestly. Food is a different story though. With an abundance of high quality food establishments in this state (not just expensive joints either, but quality cheap eats as well) I refuse to buy crappy food.

Well a "mulitple location fake Irish Pub" certaintly can give you a better beer selection than some average dive bar so Im not gonna be too harsh on them. I get your point about food but this a beer site and thats what were here to discuss. A lot of good restuarants have bad beer selections anyway.

A Fat Belly's opened up ~ 1 mile from the house so we optimistically gave it a go...I thought the food at was horribly subpar.
