I have tried few of those. Those are veri expensive, but really good as well.

Can someone (Giovannilucano?!) tell how many different versions are there? And what is the differences between them?

Bit hard to tell since in some cases a new vintage can have a different name but the recipe stays the same. The labels aren’t always clear. I think the following should be all of them.

Baladin Xyauyù Fumé – there are Coal Ila & Laphroig Versions
    Baladin X-Fumé (Lapsang Souchong)
    Baladin Xyauyù Barrel
    Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Rame (Copper)
    Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Oro (Golden)
    Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Argento (Silver)
Baladin Xyauyu Birra Da Divano Riserva Teo Musso 2008

For the last one, the colour ones also say Riserva Teo Musso, so read description, check colour, 2008 one with that specific name should be a different beer.

Baladin Lune Riserva Teo Musso 2010
Baladin Terre Riserva Teo Musso 2010

Are comperable beers in style, taste.

I have had only the Barrel, Golden & the Terro one unfortunately, they are not exported to where I live.

Yeah, this is a bit confusing.

I wonder is that "Baladin Xyauyu Birra Da Divano Riserva Teo Musso 2008" really different than "generic"
Baladin Xyauyu Birra Da Divano Riserva Teo Musso (which is usually aliased with Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Oro (Golden)?

I recentky bought Baladin Xyauyu Birra Da Divano Riserva Teo Musso and bottle says 2008. The beer sold me as Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Oro (Golden), so what would be truth..?

It is hard to tell what is what, it seems like 2008 is a bit stronger than the other vintages. Which is why I assume I saw it mentioned as being different. I do believe that it should be in theory the same beer as the Golden one. Maybe someone can clarify things further here.

Man, I sure hope the names of these beers just roll off the tongue in Italian.

What do these cost in Italy? Cheapest I've seen them for is $43 here in the US.

They're also pretty expensive in Italy. The cheapest I've seen Xyauyu there was for 34 Euros in Lucca. Haven't made it to the brewery yet though to see what they charge for it there, plan on doing that soon.

Have you ever heard people speaking Italian? I have no doubt they could ramble off those words faster than we can say mozzarella (properly)...

Xyauyu is apparently impossible to pronounce in their language as well, it is the name of his daughters imaginary friend. I once heard the brewery say but forgot how to say it “correctly”.

I picked up a gold label and a barrel in Rome for 23 Euro each. They sell small pours at Open Baladin, also in Rome, for about 5 Euro, but the awesome bartender there gave me a free pour of Fume after I ordered a Barrel.

I had a pour of the "Barrel" version at Open Baladin in Rome last month. I'm a big barleywine fanatic but it didn't really char my tree. More liqueur-like than almost any beer I've had. If you're really into Utopias you'll probably be a fan.

I'm still smacking my lips two years later after having the Baladin Xyauyù Etichetta Rame (Copper)

Of the three I've tried, Gold, Silver and Copper, that one was my favorite. Agreed, it's a little into Utopia territory, small sips go a long way.

I'm Italian and I had imaginary friends. here's a video. he doesn't say the name of the beer until it's half over and that is big deifference between the american attention span and others. If it was me I would have guessed "Tza -oo - ooh ?" and dropped the two y's out of respect for the cartesian plane, dropped the "e" out of respect for einstein - and imaginary friends. My imaginary freinds were called the Uguale. There were two of them and they were equal to me. Uguale in Italian means equal or the same.

I was told it's pronounced SHAO-yu, if that makes any sense phonetically.

Just bought some Xyauyu Barrel for $36.99. Expensive but it used to be worse. A few years ago I had some Copper and I think it was $60.

I can't watch the video that was just posted but I remember seeing a similar one once. They pronounced it almost exactly as it appears - Ex-yow-you. How accurate that was, I have no idea - but I use it myself.

I was referring to the descriptions/details and not necessarily the name. That's a cool story though, I had no idea where it came from. Considering it's a made up name/word from a little kid, I'm not surprised no one really knows how to say it.

These bottles are also up at State Line (Elkton MD)... always think about pulling the trigger... but it's a lot of good coin to part with!
