I just had my first Cantillon. It was the classic gueuze. My wife and I really liked it. I got it in a trade about a year ago, but dont remember with who. So, I've never seen Cantillon in a store. Not even when traveling. So, Where is it sold? I looked on SeekABrew but they are not listed. What is retail price for something like the Classic Gueuze or something else off the shelf?

I went to the brewery in Brussles in 2012 to get my bottles. It was killer!

Belgiuminabox.com and trappistworld.com. Classic Gueuze is usually between $5 and $8/375 online. Shipping is exorbitant, but buy in bulk and it's worth it.

When I was in Belgium, I was just getting in to Belgian beers. I had not tasted my first sour yet. Now that I'm more enlightened, I definitely want to get back over there.

Damn, I had no idea that it wasn't sold in the US. Anyone have a few extras sitting around & need some MN brews?

HA HA Ha He he he Hoo Hoo! I live half hour from Belchertown MA where the Shelton Brothers (importers of Cantillon) are located. I haven't seen any bottles on shelves in years. Y E A R S!!!!! Sad really. My basement is the closest place I know where to find some. So technically it's on a shelf. Guess that makes me a liar.

Not too common here in the states. Well, at least here in RI. I managed to get a 2011 Lou Pepe Kriek today and I felt like I hit the lottery.

It's around, but stores that get it tend to receive such small quantities that they keep it in the back and may only sell to certain customers. One of our local stores gets some cantillon every couple of months, but usually only six bottles each of two varieties, if you walked in and asked for it you probably wouldn't get any since it is usually spoken for before they even get it. I get the impression that it is a similar situation in most areas that are able to get any at all, you need to know someone to be able to have a chance to buy it.

If you find yourself in Orlando, hit up Red Light Red Light - they've got Lou Pepes...they'll just set you back $65 a pop.

Eagle Provisions in Brooklyn, NY has Cantillon behind the register. Every bottle in 750mL format was $100. The owner brings it in himself, and gets murdered on duty and shipping. This is the only place I have ever seen it on the shelves in North America.

B&C. Nikki's hasn't mentioned that they had any yet. Either they've already sold out or they got some in an haven't mentioned it yet. I'd keep my eyes peeled.

I'm debating using belgiuminabox.com to get some Westy 12 Font and Cantillon. I just tried to use my Visa to complete my purchase and it said it required additional verification by my bank (M&T). Can anyone educate me on why this happens?

I don't know why that happened with your card. But don't hesitate to use Belguim in a Box. They are awesome. I have made several purchases from them and (other than having a box stuck in customs for a week or so) I have never had a problem.
    Enjoy your Westy

Thanks for the reassurance! It's quite a purchase and really hope I get to make it happen. I got a couple Westy 12s and a Blond which I hear is worth the money. Would it be better to use Paypal?
