Did a blind tasting the other day with HDnR, Heady, and Elevated and HDnR won with half of our group. Hilariously, I had been drinking Heady all week and was convinced I was picking Heady, but I picked HDnR.

On that note, I only grabbed 2 bottles of Hopslam today, as well as a 4-pack of Hop Ranch, and a couple other IPAs. Going to do an expanded blind tasting to see if HDnR still comes out on top.

I picked up 2 sixers of HopSlam today, had a few tonight and while I really liked it I think I like Hop-Drop-N Roll better...never thought I would say a beer brewed in NC (CHARLOTTE) was better than Hopslam...but that is what I'm I'm thinking.

Yeah it's not a bad brew, it just doesn't have that in your face hop kick like lots of newer IPAs, which probably has to do when the idea/recipe for hopslam was conceived.

Picked up 2 6'ers of HopSlam from a place in Charlotte. 19.99 each (damn) and went home. Put them in the fridge, and waited until 10 to crack the first one. Here is my breakdown of what happened next.

10:05 first sip (disappointing) - it didn't have the flavor I was expecting. Tasted just like other IPAS
10:15 About half way through, and the flavor was starting to develop, tasted more fruity and drank exceptionally well
10:30 Holy shit this thing is 10%, tasted delicious by the end.

Final Review: probably not the best beer that you can buy for 20$ a 6'er but it was good and it seems to get better with every sip.

Shared one with my wife last night after having a Jade and a OH Imperial Stout at Duckworths. It was by far the best Hopslam I have had in probably five years. Loved it!

The second HDnR makes it as far out as Asheville I'm turning my poor mother into a beer-shipping mule fool. I made her drive two four-packs down on their most recent visit and it's not sufficient.

I could be wrong, but I'm like 80% positive I saw it last time I was at Appalachian Vintner in Asheville.

Or in other words...it got to the proper serving temperature. A beer like this should be drunk > 40 degrees.

Charleston, SC update. Hit stores yesterday (Tuesday). Both TW and Bottles had it starting yesterday morning. I picked up one sixer at TW (which was the limit) around noon. Called Bottles at 5:30pm when I got off work and they had already sold out. CBX said they did not get it yet (I think more likely they just havent decided to put it up for sale yet). Price at TW was $21.99, and TW generally has the lowest price of those three bottle shops. Its amazing what beers sit on the shelves here, but then at the same time two years in a row I couldnt get more than one six pack of Hopslam. Oh well, I was happy to get the sixer I got.

I called TW in West Ashley at noon yesterday - and they told me they were sold out. I then called CBX...and they had it - just weren't advertising it. I picked up a 6-pack at about 1PM and saw about 2 cases behind the counter. It was $19.99 a 6er, I believe...

Cases of it stacked up at Ritchey's on Gregory in Pensacola. Dated 1-16. 16.99. Only bought two 6ers. Not hoarding this stuff like last yr. Too many great IPA's out there.

I'm heading down to Daytona at the end of the month. Has Hopslam appeared there in the past, or is that area of Florida kind of a wasteland for limited releases? I checked out the local store reviews here on BA but it's hard to tell what the current scene is like. Thanks.
