When you look at the quality offered for the price you pay, you can't go wrong with Girardin (Black label of course).
Although Tilquin, Hanssens, 3 and Cantillon have stunning gueuzes as well.

    This man knows gueuze.

Honestly, all 4 of the Armands were great, 3F OG was fantastic, Cantillon Classic was out of this world. The balance between funk, sour, and acidity that Cantillon achieves (at least with the Classic/Bio) is unmatched, in my opinion. Others are close, but none surpass it.

FWIW, the suggestions for Boon have me a bit questioning. I had a 2004 Mariage Parfait at my wedding (thanks again Steve) and it was a blue cheese funk-a-thon, but had nothing beyond that. The Mariage Parfait Kriek, on the other hand, was deliciously acidic and tart. I liked it far better than the Gueuze.

MP. Kriek is the star of the show when it comes to Boon. It's the only thing I've had that rivals Lou Pepe Kriek.

While I have to disagree with you on it being the ONLY Bruery sour that is really overrated, I crack up reading people compare Rueuze to geuzes in here. Are you serious? It's like a sour blonde. No balance whatsoever, which is a bad look on its producers as it is a blend (unless *all* of the base beer was boring and depth-less as well).

    1. 3F Golden Blend (easily attainable on the shelves where I live)
    2. 3F OG (easily attainable on the shelves where I live)
    3. Tilquin OG (easily attainable on the shelves where I live)
    4. Cantillon Classic (not easily attainable on the shelves)
    4a. Allagash Resurgam
    5. Hanssens Geuze (easily attainable on the shelves where I live)
    6. Cuvee Rene
    7. Oud Beersel Vielle

I haven't had many/any vintage geuze or special bottlings (or Beat), so the above list is those that I have tried and would happily shell out for again only, ranked in order. Mariage Parfait Kriek may be amazing, but the geuze blows and as with everything else not on this list (St Louis and others), I would not pay my money for.

Hi there, just wondering if anybody can tell me if there is any oude gueuze out there with a higher alcohol content than the usual 5 or 6%?

I tend to prefer beer with a higher abv and as I am driving to Belgium soon to stock up on beer it would be nice to find a nice strong oude gueuze.

    Any help much appreciated.

Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait is 8 % ABV
    Cantillon 50°n-4°e is 7 % ABV

I cannot think of anything else.
