One of these years, I may put the full court press on and try to make DLD happen. At least you're coming away with bottles there, not three 10oz pours.

All the newbies should be able to taste the Younger hype and see what it's all about. I did my first 2 years. I'm over it. But the experience was great. Too old these days. Moving on to better beers in the LA/OC area.

So I originally posted about trying it in So Cal, but I'll be in San Jose during when it comes down here. I should hopefully be able to find it more easily up there.

If I make a trip to RR, is the PtY release going to be too chaotic to try and snag some bottles? or would I be safe to go in the evening?

What day will you be in San Jose? Younger Is on at RRBC for two weeks only. NO BOTTLES. NO GROWLERS. And I think it is allotments on each day. Correct me if I'm wrong. You'll be okay if you go during the weekday around opening. Could get busy latter in the day.

I'm there from 13th through the 20th. Not sure if I have transportation yet, so I'm debating renting a car if I can't borrow one from my family.

I didn't clarify well in my last post, but I was planning on going to RR not for PtY but for other bottles (Supplication, Consecration, PtE) I just don't want to drive the couple hours if it's going to be a mess. I haven't done any research yet on craft beer shops in San Jose that carries RR, but I figure the source would be my best bet.

On Sat 15th, the SF Beer Week schedule has it in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. Sunday at Harry's Hofbrau which isn't far from where I'm staying. I was going to shoot for trying PtY at these events.

^out-of-towners might cause a major run on any and all bottles. I would go sooner than later if I were you. Can't tell you how crazy it will be tonight, tho.

I have a weekend in between semesters next weekend (weekend of the 14th) and since I haven't been out of town in several months, I planned a weekend trip to Santa Rosa, but after seeing that video, I'm seriously considering canceling it. Starting a line at midnight and battling the rain at same time? Get the fuck outta here!!! I made the trip a few years ago and it was fine but it's turned into something indescribable.

You are a wise young man. I thankfully never had to wait in line for the Younger. Plain and simple for me its just not worth it. If you are in the area for SFBW go drink Julian Shrago's Hops Of Fury and you will understand that there are a lot of beers as good if not better that you can enjoy without the fan boy hype. Listen, PtY is very good beer, I like it a lot, but its just become something more than the beer and we all know what that is and I thankfully am to old and wise to participate in that shit show.

    Cheers,

    Bud

I will refrain from a snide remark and let you know that you are one page away from the answer to your question.

Good Lord! 1,143 reasons NOT to go to this train wreck. It can't be THAT good!!! The building only holds so many people that many MANY will have to wait until others finally leave after their "experience". Passssssssss...LOL!

Thanks for the post ! I'll take my chances of finding it in SF. I was heading upto Bay Area next weekend for family weekend trip with wife and newborn, but after looking at that line I'll pass

Hey Bud, I wish I was, in fact, a young man, but I've digressed. It's less about making a trip for younger and more about leaving town and going to a part of the state I enjoy being in. Who knows, maybe we'll just skip RRBC and just spend time in other places, but it would have been nice to go get some pours without too much of a hassle. Hopefully the hoards of visitors will have left by then.

Go on the week days and the earlier the better. In celebrating the Younger release this weekend I brewed my 3rd elder while drinking a fresh elder. HopSlam soon followed, then Melrose. If you have the chance try HopSlam and Melrose side by side. We finished off with My Bloody Valentine.

Off topic, where are you finding Hopslam? A buddy of mine in NC went to get me some and said the store got in 30 cases and it sold out in a couple of hours.

Connection in AZ. Making a trip out that way next weekend for a couple of gigs and picking up a case of slam on way back to Cali. It came out a week or so ago in AZ and it was gone like that. It just worked out good with the concerts and hop slam together. The one I had yesterday was from a good buddy here. And it tasted great. Can't wait to get it next weekend.

My buddy and I flew into San Fran from Vancouver on Friday and headed up to RR. We managed to avoid the huge lines in the day by hitting local bottle shops and heading out to visit both Lagunitas and Bear Republic. We stopped into line at RR for 5 min last night at 9pm and were sipping PtY by 9:05. They ran out for the day about 20 min after we got in. Well worth the 5 min wait.

received a 6-pack this week and drank 3 over the weekend. I'd hardly call it awful, but I would say that is completely overrated (my opinion). I enjoyed the beer, but there's a lot of hype behind it. Good, but definitely not great.

+1. Had it for the first time this yr. Too sweet honey, malty for me. Now I'm sitting on way too much Hopslam. I won't be seeking this out ever again.
