Last year was the first that Hopslam was brewed in the new 200 bbl brew house, and fermented in the 400 barrel tanks. It does take some batches to dial a beer in on new equipment. I do remember last years being "hot" on the finish, this year it is not. So the got the bigger system dialed in, which a friend agrees on. There are crop differences from year to year in the amount of essential oils in the hops. Yes they have good QC and sensory panels.

There are always it tastes different posts. Sometimes new equipment is the cause. Sometimes the new crop of hops is better for aroma (SierraNevadaBill said that Celebration benefited this year). Sometimes our flavor memory is faulty.

Missed out at my local liquor store, but have found it on tap at Flip side at Easton. Went to Old Bag of Nails in Pickerington expecting to have nothing too special but alas they had Hopslam on tap as well.

I haven't really noticed a difference. I tend to sip high ABV beer a little slower though.

Didn't like the 2012 or 2013 version of this beer at all but liked this year's quite a bit. Go figure.

I've had some hoppy beers, hop stoopid, hoptimum, etc. To me this is a damn hoppy beer, it kind of builds in the taste buds, if it wasnt for the honey sweetness dont know if it would be enjoyable

So someone who likes one beer over another, especially a great one like sucks, is an idiot? I see. You win for dumbest poster of the day.

Just paid 7.99 for a single bottle with a one bottle limit. Jealous of people getting cases for retail.

Hey thats great but its in a 6-pack, not a bomber. Might as well go compare it to a bottle of wine or a gallon of milk while you are at it.

It doesn't. That is why you must present two comparable drinks in your argument. Twelve ounce bottles can not be compared pricing wise with 22oz bombers, unless it is the same beer, due to different pricing structures. Hopslam doesnt come in bombers. So the comparison is moot because it doesn't even exist.

There is certainly a point to be made that comparing beer from two different formats is not always going to lead to a fair argument but it is ridiculous to completely disregard the argument. And to say it is like comparing wine to milk is completely nonsensical.

We are comparing beer to beer, strip away the format and it is easy to compare the product on a price per ounce basis. Of course, bomber prices are structured differently and a premium must be taken into account but this does not disqualify it from comparison. With proper qualifiers and context, comparisons do not need to be 1:1 to be valid.

You just like to argue about inane stuff, eh buddy? Sorry, but comparing beer to beer based on how much you get, not what vessel it comes in, makes sense. Beer is not milk, and it is not wine.

By your logic, purchasing toilet paper in the smaller quantity packs(different sized vessel carrying the same product , in your own words) that costs more per roll, is perfectly fine with you because "that's just how much it costs. It's the pricing structure!" That's exactly what you're doing when you purchase the same beer in a bomber that costs less per ounce than the same one or a comparable beer(not soda) that comes in a 6 pack.

I know Hopslam only comes in 6 packs, but so what? When you compare it to other high ABV 2x IPAs, it's a great deal compared to what most people charge for a bomber of similar beer(again, not milk, petroleum or liquid uranium) per ounce, but your argument of randomly comparing beer to other unrelated beverages, um...you must be wasted, really bored; or both.

Hopefully, you're not in charge of a meaningful budget of any kind.

A beer is not a giraffe.

I didnt compare wine to milk. But yes that would be nonsensical as well.

Well see I cant buy the beer without it being in a vessel so yeah the vessel, and likewise its pricing structure, automatically comes into play regardless of anyones feelings.

I dont even know what you are talking about here.

Saying product A is a good deal because product B is a bad deal is not an argument. One does not have anything to do with the other.

I think that people get waaay to hung up on the price of hopslam. No one complains, or at least not as much, about the price of 90 minute and in my experience I have paid the same amount per bottle ($2.50).
