Sucks was a damn fine beer that I am surprised I have never had. Was very happy with it and will enjoy drinking it again soon!

Lunch IPA by Maine Beer Company. If any of y'all live in New England, definitely try and find it.

It's been a while since I have given something a 5/5. The last beer that got that rating was Heady Topper.

Not picking on anyone in particular, but I find having never given a 5, not planning on giving a 5, can't imagine a "perfect" beer, etc. a bit...well, can't really find a word, but...

I can't imagine finding flaws in every beer that you drink. Can you really truly and honestly enjoy any beer to its fully extent when you analyze everything under the sun and find flaws in each and every beer? It's fine and good to compare with something you previously had, analyze for all the review factors, but once a beer gets to a certain level of awesomeness, a slight less desirable appearance or the mouth feel is bit this or that, etc. shouldn't take away from the overall 5.

To me, a 5 doesn't necessarily reflect perfection in every review criteria, but rather that it's the best or one of the best of a particular style you've had overall; and, at the moment you're truly enjoy that beer, with observations, but without meticulous analysis.

This is what I've just done with Double Jack. Got 2 as extras and wanted to enjoy one with my dad. We both loved it. I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to give it a full review, but when I do, it will likely be juuuuust under a 5...

I've essentially spammed this forum with my love for this beer today but I just recently upgraded Rising Tide's Calcutta Cutter to a 5 from a 4.5...Had it at a bar (partially intoxicated) and thought omg is this really this good? So I bought another bottle yesterday bottled on 2/3/14 and lightning struck twice. Going to be grabbing several more before this stuff dries up/gets old.

2 most recent were both on New Years Day..Round Barn Brewery's Black Magic which was driven down fresh from Michigan by a buddy in a growler (thank you again for driving & sharing!) and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery's Bourbon Ginger Bread Stout another buddy brought to the party..have had a lot of really good barrel aged stouts but these are 2 of the best I'e had in a long time that I still get cravings for & dream about

Had several Le Terroir at New Belgium Brewery when I was in Denver for work in December and you are right it is really good so I brought home a couple bombers of it to share with friends.. we were able to get on one of the last tours at New Belgium that day among the tasting highlights they also let us try the Pre-Sour Felix which is the pre-sour version of Le Terroir on the tour and a bottle of Fat Tire like 15 minutes after it came off the bottling line (hella good).. if you have not tried it yet try to get ahold of Russian River's Supplication its my favorite sour

Haven't rated any beers yet but I'll probably go on a ratings binge sometime when I'm bored and have time to kill.

The only beer I'm sure I'll give a 5/5 is Founders Imperial Stout. I'm drinking one right now, it's just so freaking good.

Lagunitas Sucks - the nose on it and the tropical fruit flavors definitely elevated it to a 5 in my book.

i completely agree!! i think Founders Imperial Stout gets lost because of the hype around FBS and KBS. but, that beer is magnificent!

last 5 for me was Stone's Enjoy By, such an epic double IPA. alcohol is completely masked behind the magnitude of different and complex hops! Cheers!

I don't believe in giving a beer a 5. There is no such thing as perfection and there is always room for improvement in all aspects of life

I've given out TEN 5s - most of them were for big stouts.

I don't think I'm that generous, but I do drink a LOT of beer, and have been lucky to have some really good stuff.

The last one was for Against The Grain's Bo & Luke. I dream about it to this day.
