    THANKS!,

Had a chance to try it this weekend. Paid exactly what you had quoted. Thought it was decent, not great. Still like most of their stuff so not deterred.

Tried this last night and was blown away by how sweet it was. It's probably the sweetest IPA/IIPA I've ever had. Nonetheless, it was still quite drinkable for being over 11% abv, and an enjoyable beer overall.

I'm fortunate to have a wide palate for beer and I thought this was a great beer because of the slight sweetness and booziness to it. Its great that it's hard to classify. I still can't identify 50% of the stuff people say they can taste in each beer anyway!!!

What's crazy is that a beer that is 10% more bitter than Resin is actually perceived as being less sweet. Once you hit that 10% threshold for ABV we've found that the alcohol actually starts to obscure the bittering flavors of the hops, and only the hop flavor and aroma starts to come through. That is why Hi-Res tastes like hop "juice" whereas the Resin tastes more like the hop "resin."

    cheers

Confused by your posting of this, as a beer that is more bitter would generally be perceived as being less sweet, right?

Made a mistake on that original post. What I meant to say was that mathematically speaking the Hi-Res is 10% more bitter (in IBU measurement) than the Resin, but it could be perceived to be not as bitter because the alcohol at 11.1% starts to obscure a bit of the hop bitterness.

Of course, there are other variables at play too, such as the malt bill, carbonation level, types of hops used, etc.

That is what I thought you might have intended to say, but wasn't sure.

hey Sixpoint, your beers are great. Hi-Res is another hit.

I just have a question -- a year or two ago, you provided Blind Tiger with one of the best IPAs I've ever had. like, it would easily draw the hype of Heady Topper and PtE if more people had it. It was called Gemini: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10607/31320/

I was wondering if there were any plans to bring Gemini back. I know Hi-Res is probably the focus right now, but the beautiful balance of Gemini is something I'll forever miss.

Regardless, please keep Gemini in the back of your mind when planning which beers to distribute/can next. even if it's tap-only again I'll be happy and head to the city for it.

Mineo, I've been wishing the exact same thing for a couple years now. Phenomenal DIPA.

Oh, and Sixpoint—how about Harbinger in cans, finally? I tried a couple of last year's recipes and thought they were excellent, and LONG overdue in my fridge!

    Hi Mineo,

We do plan on bringing back the Gemini as a limited, draft-only offering that will be available at select locations and also down at the brewery. Glad to hear you enjoy that one.

We actually have a brand new draft version of this year's Harbinger coming out in about two weeks - we are calling it the "Seison" in honor of the "Six"Point approach to this new world Saison style. I'll make sure to start a new thread under the Beer Releases forum when it drops.

    cheers

Hw much does Sxpoint pay Untapd for badges on new beers?

This beer really surprised me but it is held back from a perfect 5 because it is very boozy and not smooth like Heady Topper. Very good beer though. Would like to see them drop the ABV on it and see what it tastes like. I definitely taste Galaxy hops in this brew, and possibly mosaic?

We won't be dropping the ABV on this beer. If you want an 8% beer you can always try the Resin, or a beer like Global Warmer, which are 9.1% and 7.0% respectively.

Re: choice of hops, you are correct - there are some of the new strains in there as well. :-)

WHAT IS MORE INTERESTING THAN A CANNED SAISON THAT DOESN'T SUCK??

Sorry, sorry . . . just been waiting for canned Harbinger for a couple of years now :-) I'm all ears for new products, though.

Understandable, I see your point, and perhaps this beer would not be as great if you had to drop back the malt bill to lower the ABV. It does come across as boozy, which can be a good thing, if you like that on the finish, which for me is OK, but I would still rather have a beer like this or Heady Topper where the ABV is well hidden and you can drink the entire 4 pack LOL! Honestly, it is a fantastic beer, keep it up!

I almost forgot, I did enjoy Resin as well, but Hi-Res is in a different ball park for me, there is something very Heady Topper about it.

Hey @Sixpoint, I have a quick question for you.

It seems very odd to me that you have distribution in Eastern OH but not Western PA. It seems like an odd market to skip when you distribute further. I am sure Furhers or Vencenies would love to have you.

Thank you for coming in here and answering any questions we have. Very cool of you.
