We'll be passing relatively close by Voodoo, getting on and off of I-90 this Sunday and staying in Meadville. Questions for people who've been there recently: 1) The website says they're open until midnight on Sunday, but just wanted to confirm with someone who's been there recently. 2) What do they usually have available on tap/in bottles at the taproom outside of the year-rounds? BBVD? #cibola? Just so we have an idea of how much $$ we're going to be giving to them.. 3) Anything else fun to do/see in Meadville while we're in town? Otherwise, we'll visit Voodoo, get a good night's sleep and resume our driving trip.
Voodoo Brewing is pretty much all there is to do in Meadville.. Trust me it is worth it. Not overly expensive depending on how much beer you buy to go that is... Meadville is home of Channelock pliers if you want to get some straight from the source lol
Timber Creek Tap and Table (Brewpub) is also very close to Voodoo Brewing...like 5 minutes away. I liked the place. www.timbercreektapandtable.com
@tommyguz is nearby, he can give you some good info! They usually post their taplist for the weekend on their Facebook page on Thursdays... as of last week #cibola was still on, but may be down to bottles now? Too bad you'll miss the firkin friday, that is usually pretty interesting! Also, agree to the recommendation of Timber Creek, not a bad spot to check out as well. Enjoy!
1) they are open Thursday and Friday 3-12, Sat-Sun 12-12. 2) Their tap list is, as @Shandycan said posted on Facebook, usually Thursday afternoon. They have bottles for sale of all their Hashtag beers and their regular beers plus Big Black Voodoo Daddy. Last week's looked like this... ------------- good vibes wynona's big brown ale pilzilla gran met voodoo love child white magick of the sun #cibola (no growlers- 22oz bottles available) el dorado pale ale big black voodoo daddy (no growlers- 22oz bottles available) #nofilter (22oz bottles available) firkin friday (Tapped at 5 PM): good vibes with fresh blood oranges (This changes every week and they post what it is Thursday) ------------- The food menu also gets posted around Thursday too, it changes each week and every thing on it is usually really really good. Fresh and local. ----------- There is a concert this Saturday night at 7 PM upstairs in the lounge. It looks like it is free. https://www.facebook.com/events/249271095251353/ Also Sunday morning they have brunch, which is awesome. (They post the menu usually Sunday morning). 3) If you are coming off 90 in Erie. I recommend checking out Lavery first before coming to Meadville, Lavery is only like 30 minutes (north) of Meadville. Its not far off 90. EDIT: Sorry I missed you said Sunday. Lavery isn't open on Sunday Timber Creek isn't bad. It's worth checking out for the sake of checking out. You won't be blown away but their Black Bear, North Pole Stout and Fresh Squeezed are pretty tasty. The food is good, service is sometimes hit or miss. I'd eat brunch at Voodoo Sunday then maybe go up to Lunch or Dinner at Timber Creek. Hope that helps! Cheers!
Nice, thanks! I'll definitely keep an eye out for the taplist tomorrow. Regardless, we plan to visit Sunday evening and spend the night in Meadville before we continue on our road trip.
Tap list for this weekend: here is this week's tap list good vibes wynona's big brown ale pilzilla gran met voodoo love child white magick of the sun #cibola (no growlers- 22oz bottles available) el dorado pale ale big black voodoo daddy (no growlers- 22oz bottles available) #nofilter (22oz bottles available) firkin friday: grande negro voodoo papi aged in laird's apple brandy barrels. this has been aging for an extra six months in the barrel since we bottled it on cocoa nibs, madagascar vanilla beans, and cinnamon.
Looking through these, I'm most excited about drinking some more BBVD and especially Good Vibes. Too bad GNVP will be gone at that point.. at least I'm assuming so.
Yeah. BBVD and Good Vibes from the source are both delicious!!! El Dorado Single Hop was tasty too. Very easy to drink. They should still have some Teku's left if you are into glassware. I think they have barrel room snifters still too.
My bad but not my fault. It was told to me by a recruiter from Allegheny College when my son was being recruited for football. I guess he figured it was close enough.
Yes I definitely enjoyed my stop in town. Zac gave us a pour of the remnants of the AB GNVP and it was great. Fudgy chocolate. And Good Vibes is a fantastic IPA for sure. We are talking about coming back on Friday...
I couldn't remember where she was from / what we talked about dealing with her haha.. Steve you should hit up @STG228 (Jarrod) when you get into town if you guys come back! He can show you around to some other places after Voodoo too, he goes for the firkin on Fridays too.
Oh didn't see this one. Oops. We came back to Meadville on Thursday night and opened up a couple beers with Zac. It was a fantastic time. I'm not going to lie, Good Vibes may very well be on the same level of IPAs we've drank on this trip.. and don't forget that we were in Vermont for half the trip haha! It should be canned IMO.
