Yeah, another IPA is really what the west coast desperately needs.

In general, many breweries should consider NOT making a number of beer styles. Specifically, everyone seems obliged to make an IPA these days and most think that a DIPA is required as well. That only leads to a glut of mediocre beers on the shelf.

because it would get infected and they'd still overcharge for it - two things that don't work for IPAs

or because they can't blend an IPA with say, a Saison de Lente.

Because every other damn brewery out here in Sol Cal does several IPA's. Too overdone. Plus, they like to mostly brew beers that can age a bit I would imagine. Not constantly chasing "bottled dates" on a shelf like milk.

Totally agree. However, a good bottle stopper can give you a few days. Especially with the already lower carbed beer.

I actually asked Patrick about this during an interview a while back. He basically said that there's a lot of breweries out there making good IPAs in southern california and it's just not something they want to do.

However, theiy Breyian (sp?) Batch 1,000 was a pretty good Cascadian Dark Ale.

Because you can't sell IPAs for $40

Yeah sarcasm, but Bruerys standard beers pricing is something like $10, right? And IPA from Bruery at that price, insane or not, will defenetely sell well...

I'd gladly pay $10 for Humulus Lager at their typical bottle size.

But like everyone else said, unlikely any true IPA they'd put together would really hold a candle to the state's slew of excellent offerings that are more often than not at a lower price point.

Well, their newest offering in the 12 Days of Christmas series is arguably more or less a quad (with fruit added), depending on where you fall on the Quad = BSDA argument...

But yes, I agree it's a valid question. I bet they could do a pretty kick-ass quad.

Not just the west coast the whole country!

Yes you could. If RR sold bombers of Pliny the Younger they could get $50.00 or more for them with ease.
