In that case, the wife/girlfriend isn't a "mule". They are just picking up their share of a beer they want, rather than picking it up so that someone else can skirt the bottle limit. So yes, that is certainly fine.

It's when you bring people that could care less about the beer, who are essentially just a warm body, to allow one dude to get multiple times the bottle limit, that it becomes a little crappy. But we are talking etiquette (not laws) and it's a free country. Some people are just going to do this, regardless of how others see it.

I will do horrible things to get my hands on at least a four pack for this year's release. I'm still sitting on my 2012 bottles, which I've been gifting all year without having one myself. I was lucky to get down to Founders when they put the 20 cases of 2011 bottles in the company store, but I need to get to drinking those ones quick.

I really want to try some KBS that hasn't been left sitting around in a cellar for over a year.

I am guilty of visiting numerous stores tying to get some extra supply, but have never brought a "mule" to eat up inventory at one specific store.

I have actually never had KBS. This thread is getting me excited to try some though. I love these forums. I am rather new to them and I have already tried numerous beers that normally I would have never thought twice about buying at the store thanks to all the community wide recommendations and information constantly being passed along.

For example, I'm sure I have seen Nugget Nectar on shelves every spring but I finally tried some yesterday due to all the hype on here and I may have just discovered one of my new favorites! Cheers!

Be prepared to wait in line at your specialty liquor store my friend. You should call your usual spots and see if they're doing any sort of special opening or what the hours are going to be that day so you can be sure to get some!

I just get on a list and call it good with 1-4pk. I usually land some extra that I find at "hole-in-the-wall" places. Can't wait to see what GR residents get as a surprise this year. Happy hunting, no truck casing for this guy!

On behalf of anyone who has ever worked in a beer store ever, NO NO NO. Calling around is BS, if you're a regular, ask the next time you're in the store. The phone calls have to stop, they're so damn annoying!!

Disclaimer- I've never worked in a store, I just sit at the bar at my regular taproom/bottleshop and watch my friends behind the bar go crazy every year around KBS time.

@Cubatobaco , yeah that was my Pop's, he's not a douche, just a pissed off ol' man who got the runaround by Total Wankers. I've been buying KBS every year at that TW since 2010, always had my allotment held for me til after work. As you know, mgmt. there has gone to crapfuck at this location. Anyway, I called at 10:30, they tell me it's in, so I get my old man to pick me up my 2 bottles:rolling_eyes:(as he lives right around the corner), and when he gets there, they tell him it's not in. It was, they's just being sketchy, guess my Dad doesn't look beer geeky enough. So I call back, they say it's in, I call my poor Pop's again, he goes back, and they tell him it's not in. Well he goes the fuck off as he is wont to do, until the manager says, "oh yeah it's here". So yeah, he didn't care about the beer, just being yanked around by TW (and me:stuck_out_tongue:). Anyway, I'm over KBS, I have a much better BBA coffee chocolate impy stout that I brewed in my cellar!

I currently work at a beer store, I'm happy to receive calls from people asking about beer. Although, yeah, you're right. I'd rather have a regular ask me face to face than the cold, unfeeling plastic of the phone.

Love the story! That sums it up and and exactly what I was hearing. If that what was happening, then he had every right to be pissed. I was just trying to stop everyone from staring. Hope to see him there this year.

Yeah I won't put him through that again, if I'm there at the right time, I'll get some. If not, so be it. My truck chasin' days are over, I'd rather drink more easily accessible beers and save for another euro beer vacation!

There's not enough hate in this thread. Let's kick some hornet's nests, shall we?

    KBS Release Details: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/2014-kb...ders-brewing-co-tickets-10044652827?aff=eorg#

TL;DR: KBS allotments being cut down to 2 4 packs.

I'm not in PA, but in Kentucky it goes for about $140 plus 100 hours of your time and $150 worth of gasoline.
