It wouldn't surprise me if prairie threatened to pull out of Texas over this. Many other markets that would love to see prairie and I never hear much about labels being delayed 2 months.

Edit* and I say that based on responding to your "rare beer hoarders " comment. Ya, us bas will still buy these, but the casual beer drinker(non hoarder) gets whole.of a coffer and it lacks the coffee "pop" prairie is going for then.they lose a new customer. I highly doubt thats the image prairie wants for the general public

Prairie ain't leaving Texas. They're used to dealing with nonsensical laws, they deal with Oklahoma for God's sake- think about it they can't release coffee in their own home state!

correct me if I'm wrong, but Prairie stated that it had nothing to do with Oklahoma law.

It was due to retailers and distributors.

There wasn't enough to make them happy so it was sent to TX.

I would say Coffee Noir qualifies as rare at this time.

Is the wait for Coffee Noir the TABC's way of making other states feel Texas' distribution woes?

Just got a response from the TABC twitter on Bourbon County Barleywine:

"We approved a label for Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Barley on 10/31/13."

Alltech Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale was approved 10/31. Has bourbon in the name, close enough.

Yeah but I thought I heard that distributors decided to wait until all the variants were approved, to release them all at once. This could be wrong, but I seem to remember being told that.

Yeah, they'll drop it out of the blue like they did Backyard probably.

With Backyard being approved and already being sold around here you'd think we would have coffee and barleywine here by now as well.

Not being sold in Austin yet, I dont think. Nor have we seen Vanilla Noir. Distribution patterns have been a friggin mess lately.

I don't think Barleywine was ever approved. Guessing they are waiting for it to release coffee as well since both come in 4 packs. Or both were shipped back to go to other states.

When asked why it wasn't in the online database:

"You're right. And that's weird. I'm having our IT folks check on why it's in the internal database but not external."

So apparently it was approved 4 months ago and Coffee was at least a month now. I wonder if we'll see them in the next month if at all.
