Since e-bay no longer allows the sale of "collectable bottles", where in the world is someone trying to sell a $500 growler? Craigslist? lol

I'm going to be in san Diego next weekend and wondering if anyone know if anyone will be pouring nearby?

O'Brien's will be receiving their kegs on Tuesday, 2/18, but won't tap until the following weekend.

    Directly from their newsletter:

"And next week our first keg of Russian River Pliny the Younger will get delivered. The shipment from the brewery to the distributor was a little later than usual this year. The very first kegs will get delivered on Tuesday the 18th so no one around town will be tapping it before that unless my information is not good. Our first keg will go on tap Saturday the 22nd at 4 pm. Even though other folks around town will have tapped kegs earlier, I have no reason to think anything other than the keg will be blown in 30 minutes. We will have some other triple IPAs on that day including one from Acoustic Ales and hopefully some Roustabout from Societe. Look for Bear Republic Apex IPA as well to help quench your hop fix. There will be a lunch-time keg tapped the first week of March - look for details in the next email.

We will be doing our annual animal charity keg of Younger on Wednesday the 26th between 5 and 8 pm. The tickets for the charity keg will go on sale at the pub at 5 pm on Thursday the 20th. The cost is $15 for a 10 oz pour and 100% of that money will get donated to animal related charities. No waiting in line, no wondering if you are going to get any - once you have your name on the list, just show up anytime between 5 and 8 pm on the 26th and your beer will be waiting for you. Any beer not consumed by 8 pm will then go on sale. Tyson thinks that the slots will sell out in one night, so don't miss out on the 20th. There is a limit of two slots per person and it is cash only."

Leads me to believe that other spots will get their kegs on 2/18 as well. Toronado SOMETIMES taps the day they receive their first keg, and save the second for the following weekend.

Best case scenario would be a keg or two tapped on 2/18, most will be saved for the following weekend and some will be held for a few weeks to accommodate events.

Should see plenty of local IIPA's on the next few weeks. Societe Roustabout is one to watch for.

FYI... For future younger line planners.
In line Thursday 2/13 at 9:00 AM. Line was up to just before super cuts door (about 1/2 way up block).
By 11:00 AM line was well around corner.
I was through the door at 11:35 AM as part of the first wave. Line is still around the corner. I think through dumb luck I ended up with the shortest possible waiting time.

Also spoke to someone who got in line at 1:30 PM on Wednesday the 12th that didn't get in. Pliny the younger kicked at ~6:45 PM .

I went yesterday at around 9am and didnt in until about 245pm (had a couple Youngers), didnt get seated until about 315pm. The general consensus is that whether you get there 7am or 1pm; the wait will be about 4+ hours.

PS: Was it worth it? I'm not sure if its worth it for you and yours. But it was for me and my brother.

Not sure why your "faith in humanity" is sinking. I had a great time with "humanity" talking and laughing in line and then in the brewery all by myself. My "faith in humanity" is just fine.

Was there Thursday a little after 8 and there were about 35 people in front of us. They opened the doors at 11 and we got a great window table where we could watch all those poor folks in line. Stayed until around 3. Their 20 sample flight was awesome, but after the 3 Pliny the Youngers, I think my tast buds were dead. For me, the whole experience was worth it. Had great conversation in line and a great experience in the brew pup. Plan on going again next year.

$4.75 for a 10oz pour, we got there at 7am and was second in line. Actually got in the door at 10:45 because they opened early.

No, not really. Oh, and we're actually San Diegans, not San Diagans.

Another datapoint - working in Marin this week and headed up with a colleague tonight. Arrived about 7:00p and the line was only about 20 people, as Younger had run out about 6:00. I've had it in CO a few times and my colleague hadn't had ANY RRBC beers (ever) so we were more than happy with the ridiculously good "rest of the board" (which was our expectation arriving that late).

FWIW - A guy I talked to on the deck while we were waiting in line had gotten there @ 1:00pm and didn't get any. Another guy I talked to at the bar when waiting for our table was one of the last group to get Younger (he arrived about noon) and gave his second pour to the folks that had been a few behind him in line when they got in, so Advocacy and further faith in humanity is alive and well

$4.75 is extremely reasonable. I'd stand in line for that
