Well in the name of research and Beer Advocacy I am here at Three Stacks to get the story straight from the horses mouth. They do not do growler fills here, but that was their intention when they opened up a year ago and it was Collin County that would not allow it. They do however have a really good selection of craft, especially locals. The beef ribs are tasty too.

Anyone know why it would be a county issue? That means the new Whole Foods here won't do fills as well. I guess we need a place on the Denton county side up north then.

I believe Denton County has/had the same restriction for growler fills.

My understanding was they have to have a certain % of food sales in order to do Growler fills. The new Whole Foods in Highland Village is my hope. No idea if it will happen whenever it opens.

I've been using Central Market in Fort Worth for a while and had no issues. Just popped open a Martin House Pretzel Stout tonight that has been sitting a couple weeks with no issues. I've had some great beer from them too. Fresh and delicious. I wish the brewers could fill growlers. Nothing beats fresh beer in some styles.

Its actually a city and county issue.
Denton County allows for growlers, but most cities do not. (Including Frisco, Plano & Carrollton around me)

    Not opening in The Colony.

IF we are going to open one, it would be in Denton

What about in Highland Village, there is an empty spot right across from Blue Goose that would be great .

Sorry, a little confused by your post. Are you saying that Frisco, Plano & Carrollton do not allow for growler filling?

From my knowledge, previous to last year's law changes one could not.
With the new law change, one can do so now, but must have 51% food sales. (which would make you a restaurant)

Oh and welcome to BA, I see that you just joined!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm from Carrollton originally! With the TABC "BG" license I didn't think that was a requirement?

upon further investigation, you're right. The HB has "coupled" the BG license with that of other Food and beverage licenses effectively making it impossible to get on a stand-alone basis unless the cities (i.e. Carrollton, Plano, etc.) decide to vote them in separately. BUMMER!
