The mobile canning service, Iron Heart, that Wormtown and we use does not offer the option to date cans yet. That piece of equipment is scheduled to arrive at the end of the month.

I agree, I've passed a few times in the last couple of weeks having no idea how old the cans were. It's a very good IPA, but Wormtown needs to put a date, or at least the month in which they were canned.

I posted this in another thread, but the first time I had Be Hoppy, I drank it straight from the can, and shortly after driving home from the store. I thought it was meh and way too bitter. However, after letting it sit for a bit and pouring to a glass (leaving about a half oz in the can), it was incredible. I'm not sure if it was something getting stirred up or if I was just imagining things but it's now one of my favorite IPA's.

Does Alchemist date their cans? I have never seen it on them and no one complains.

No. The reason nobody complains is that 1. Heady never sits on a shelf for more than a few days, so it's never an issue at retail and 2. Heady holds up as well as any DIPA in the world with time. This is sadly not true for Be Hoppy, or at least it wasn't in bottles.. I used to get burned on the old bombers of Be Hoppy all the time. I've drank all my cans too fast to find out whether it holds up now!

Anyone know a spot in Boston or the Natick/Needham area that currently has cans in stock?

With Be Hoppy now in fourpacks at a great price, they aren't sitting around for more than a few days anywhere I've seen them. In fact, it's usually sold out within a week of arriving. The bombers were obviously a different story, but Be Hoppy in cans is one beer I don't need to see a date on yet. When they ramp up production enough for me to see it fail to sell out in under a week, then I'll be concerned with a date.

Dragging this thread up from the cellar, but thought i'd mention I found Be Hoppy on draft the other day. Tried a pint and it was absolutely delicious. Amazing. 2 years ago something like that would have tasted horrible to me. Now, its a great tasting beer. So glad my palate has changed (for the better)

Cans are still somewhat sporadically distributed.
