Hopslam (2014) in Miami?

I agree with you. I would have returned a 2nd one had I bought one. Disappointing year for the beer.

 

For $20 you can get 2 sixers of Lagunitas Sucks, and those are definitely worth it.

 

It's really really good, but 20 bucks is pretty expensive.
I'd buy a second sixer, but that's all. Never had it fresh before now, and I was very satisfied, just a bit too pricey.
I'd say 15 bucks or even 17 would be much easier to accept. Hell, 67 wine and spirits is charging 25 a sixer....

Yeah they sure do, I haven't been there since they tried to sell zhukov at 20 dollars a bottle. Didn't help that the owner was a complete asshole about it either.

16.99 in Pcola. I hope Ray is right. I bought 2 sixers and ended up giving the last few to guests who came over. I loved this beer last year. I just figure my palate has evolved (for better or worse, not sure). Can't believe a beer can change that much from batch to batch, y.r to yr.

 

Happens all the time - sometimes not on purpose. Not sure if they meant this batch to taste this year but I'm not a fan.

Had it on tap last night in Fort Lauderdale (Riverside Market). It was my first time trying it, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. It was good, but glad I didn't spend a lot on a 6 pack. After one Hopslam, I had a Uinta Hop Nosh and I actually preferred that one to the Hopslam. Tasted fresher and more flavorful. JMHO, maybe this year's batch isn't as good as previous.

 

So now that we all have Hopslam out of our system...anything good hitting this week?

 

Shiv has it. Davie Discount Liquors. But he was pretty low on it when I talked to him.

It's the best version of Hopslam since 2010, I think, but it's still too sweet. I agree with whoever said just buy Sucks instead.

 

We got that Stone Grapefruit Slam this week. That's the only thing I really saw.

 

Heavy Seas released Siren Noire which is a bourbon barrel aged chocolate stout.

 

Total Wine in Kendal just released theirs today.

 

Just in case anyone was serious about not wanting that second sixer, I'll be in town from Boston this Sun-Wed (2.23) and would love to do a swap/buy for some Hopslam.
