True, but to be fair they are not really "taking away" anything. Just making it more difficult to obtain your desired amount. People who really desire a case or more will just have to work harder to do so.

But I understand your point. I guess if I was one of the few who was fortunate enough to be able to buy the last few years...I too might be disappointed at the allotted amount. But I'm also willing to bet there are more of us standing on the outside looking in that appreciate this change as it gives us a better shot at a chance to get a few bottles.

All I know is if I can get a ticket I am happy to share with anyone who missed out. All I want are 2 bottles to be honest. One to try now and one to age for a year. The other 6 can be up for grabs.

    Good luck to all.

It is distributed anyway, people just need to put the footwork in at home instead of driving hours to get more.

as a former resident of GR I agree and I haven't even been back in almost 3 years. I'm personally looking forward to driving almost 10 hours from Baltimore to get my 8 bottles (assuming I get a ticket)

I'm sure there will be a black party, in april, but as far as what beers they will have who knows, they change it up every year.

Definitely not complaining and this it's a perk to have such availability (although KBS usually lasts in Founders taproom 3-4-5ish days anyways [speaking over the past 3 years]). But I do think it's planning is a bit jaded in this format.

If the response is correct, then there seems to be less people willing to travel to the brewery because the allotments are so low (speaking in general opinion and not my own). Now, sure, GR obviously has a thriving beer scene (Beer City USA!), but speaking as a local I have a hard time getting incredibly enthusiastic about a week of KBS tap takeovers at establishments that will undoubtably be charging a pretty penny for a "tulip."

As I mentioned before, they really need to have KBS week culminate with the Black Party. Even if they didn't want to have KBS for sale during the event, I'm sure ticket holders would be content with picking up their allotment of KBS on Friday (day before the black party) and having a celebratory time all-day saturday.

Don't get me wrong, I could and will likely try and drink KBS all week long. I just know it's going to be a wallet killer.

I think you're missing the point. Founders is doing KBS week to support their top retailers. Founders brings people in town with KBS bottle release then all are free to enjoy KBS outside of the brewery. Having it culminate in a Black Party would go against the mission of the week. Also, I'm guessing it wouldn't be too wise for the retailer to charge a "pretty penny" for KBS during the week. They'll want to be included in future years and overcharging would likely preclude them for being considered.

Interesting concept, but I don't think Founders would ever do it. KBS Saturday and Black Party both independently fill the taproom. Combining both events would really cut into their taproom sales. Given they now have the outdoor beer garden, they will be able to accommodate even more patrons to each event going forward (weather permitting).

I'm on the fence with this whole KBS week. On one hand, I can understand that they're just following the money, and using the hype machine of the three letters, KBS, to draw more people not just to Founders, but to other GR establishments. It puts KBS into more mouths.

On the other hand, the whole KBS week seems wayyyy over done. It's only one beer, and claiming an entire week for it seems excessive. I do agree with the fact that something special should happen on the Saturday, something that's more than just "hey now Founders has KBS on tap". I'm hoping for some crazy KBS firkins, or variants, or maybe they "find" another 20 cases of an old vintage and sell those.

Unfortunately, under the new format for the KBS release, if this year runs similar at Founders to 2013 KBS (Satur)Day, you will be sorely disappointed. The emphasis is on the year's KBS, no variants. Last year they had KBS on tap and the rest of the standard taproom lineup. Our group took note of this and had a fantastic bottle share in the back parking lot as a result all the while taking note that we all would have gladly spent a lot more money inside were the tap lineup different.

Flawed comparrison, KBS is being distributed to 26 States or whatever it is. If they kept KBS to MI or GR only, like GI, then the limits would be much higher than 8 bottles, and would draw about 3x the FIBs.

We'll still get 3x the FIB's, but now 2/3 of them will be mules so they can still get a case for the boss FIB

We can fit more than 2 mules in our Kia Souls. The mules will draw straws to see who is left behind to make room for the beer. You can return the mule next Black Friday
