I was going to post a review for it but apparently nobody has reviewed it yet. I had it on tap at Flying Saucer KC. One of the best I've had in my opinion. Very balanced and not too dry given there is not much sweet malt backing. 7.2 but very hop forward, features Cascade, Citra & Pacific NW Warrior hops (thanks to Flying Saucer KC for the hop & abv info.). Aside from the minimal head retention, a complete beer. Job well done Green Flash, hopefully we'll be seeing bottles soon. This it worthy of being in their year-around lineup, even if "black ipa's" weren't trending.

Thanks for the ‘tip’. I really like Green Flash beers but they charge so much for them! It sounds like this is a draft only product:

“Black IPA coming 2/12. Details from Green Flash:

This year we're taking on hops, experimenting with different varieties and brewing methods to create six totally unique flavors. Join us in the Tasting Room on Tuesday, February 12th to enjoy the Feb – Mar release – a Black IPA. A custom Hop Odyssey glass will be available with the beer, and Sweet Bricks will be on site with their toffee to create a sweet pairing. After the Feb debut, look for an adventurously hoppy release every other month. Discover each draft beer release at a bar or restaurant near you, before they disappear. Black IPA is brewed with Pacific Northwest Warrior, Citra and Cascade hops. This nearly jet black American-style IPA has high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Find it at a bar near you...before it disappears.”

    Cheers!

No, but it sounds real good and I may have to get over to the brewery soon!

Very good black IPA IMO. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the style.

drinking it now. sharp resinous pine is the main feature of the beer. there is some roast and chocolate but it's minor. overall an above-average take on the style but the malt profile plays too minor a role IMHO.

also noticed that my bottle, which I bought last week, has a "Best By: 07/21/14" stamp on the neck. lol. good luck with this beer in May '14 let alone July '14 as it's best feature will be the first to go.

I had it a week ago and it was exactly what I expected out of a black ipa from Greenflash: Hop forward, dry, light roasty character, and really well done in my opinion.

There are definitely bottles of this stuff. Bier Station in Waldo definitely has some as of this past weekend.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't it a reprise of the Hop Odyssey black IPA that they released back in Feb/Mar of 2013?

Yeah they are bottling Hop Odyssey this year. This thread is a year old. I nabbed the black IPA 3 weeks ago at Berbiglia on Main. Also bottling 30th Street Pale!!!
