As some others have posted, Flying Fish Exit 1 is a very tasty Oyster Stout.

Unfortunately the OP is from Texas so this beer is not available to him.:slight_frown:

    Cheers!

Can you taste the oysters in this style? It sounds repulsive to me

More a bit of salty, brine taste on the back end. It actually works really well with a dry stout. I was reticent to try it at first as well because I hate oysters, but I'm glad I did. Marooned on Hog Island I thought was great.

I don't like oysters possibly because I haven't given them much of a chance due to the texture. Although, as stated above, the few good examples I've had of this style have just a slight brininess to them. I know it doesn't sound appealing but its worth trying even if you don't like oysters.

On the other hand, the one's that I thought were good but not what I was looking for (the saltiness) just tasted like a "regular stout", mainly irish style.

Unfortunately, I think they have competely stopped adding the oysters. Haven't seen that around in ages.

Can't say I've had many oyster stouts, but I'll second the recommendation for Flying Dog's Pearl Necklace. That's a solid brew.

Porterhouse is an Irish brewery (not the UK). And yes, their Oyster Stout is excellent. Their bottled beers are terrible, though, imo. But maybe the oyster's okay. Only real way to experience their beers is on tap though. Actually it's the only place in Ireland that makes a good full-bodied stout. There are some other drinkable ones, but Porterhouse are the masters, basically.

We've got a gastropub opening soon in Jackson, MS called Saltine. It features oyster inspired dishes and will have an oyster stout brewed in coordination with Lucky Town brewery. Saltine may be the only place to find it, though.

A real good one is from Fordham Old Dominion (Rosie Parks Oyster Stout) Dover DE. Yummy

I had a very good bottle of Flying Dog Oyster Stout last night, which should be readily available on the east coast. It lacked the minerally quality that can be nice with an oyster stout, but at the same time it lacked the flat dry taste that they sometimes have, which was a positive.

Real Ale just released their oyster stout from their Brewers Cut series. I have not tried it, need to pick up a six pack when I get a chance. If it is anything like the rest of the series, it will be pretty much spot on for the style.

Used to enjoy Harpoon's on tap before it was retired. Gonna have to look into it again.

MARSHALL WHARF, Maine. They know oysters (ice cold water) they know beer.
This is a unique absolutely fantastic brew. Lived in Maine and my bro lives there now. Great breweries there and this ones overlooked. Had a few before a Giants game this year for breakfast. Like a gose/stout hybrid.
