The Bruery's 2014 RS/HS Allocation Thread

This is my first year as an RS, but I really like the tasting glass as I'm a big collector of stemware to breweries I like.

I'm probably not the target audience, but I would have loved an option to buy more. I always try to collect a set of 4 for my collections. I would definitely be up to trade beer for glasses people don't care for.

I'm hoping they do. Has this been done prior and do they say Reserve Society on them?

 

yes, last year everyone got a 5 oz glass branded for either RS or HS members.

I'll be honest, growler bag and taster glasses dont really do it for me, I actually wish it was a hoodie, I'll just purchase one, but I really dont need any glassware or travel bags.

Looking at other's responses, do people like the merch that comes with? I would almost prefer more beer in the package with the option to buy exclusive merchandise (like hoodies.)

 

You can't please everyone. Either way it gives people something pointless to complain about.

 

Could have missed it but are there pictures of the growler and cooler?

A fellow RS member (@Peanut) and friend of mine is looking for a trustee that lives within driving distance to the tasting room. His current trustee is no longer able to do the service for him due to her work schedule. She also lives in Lake Tahoe, making the double shipping extraordinarily expensive. He's a great trader and BA. If anyone is interested, please message me or him. He's willing to offer extras of his allocations at cost w/ Bruery discount to anyone willing to do the job. He rarely maxes allocations, so there should be plenty of Bruery beer for anyone interested. He's also an El Catador member with good access to Cigar City and will remain one for next year.

 

Not sure if it makes it better, but I did acknowledge this in my post. Having said that, I still want a second glass.

 

It depends entirely on the merch:
2010 Hoodie - Awesome, most comfortable hoodie I've ever owned and I wore it until I started getting holes in the sleeves from rubbing on my desk at work.
2011 Growler Bag - Awesome, I still use it at least once/week to carry bottles around, and will continue to use it in addition to the new one.
2011 T-Shirt - Meh, never wore it. It said something about "rare" beer that I found to be lame, so I just stuck it in my closet.
2012 Hoodie - Wasn't a fan of how it was cut, wore it a few times but it sits in my closet.
2013 Hoodie - Better than 2012's, but not as good as the 2010. I wear it regularly but much like nearly every beer in existence, it just wasn't as good as the first batch.

The 2014 growler bag looks awesome and as I said in an earlier post, the six bottle capacity will be great. I wouldn't object if they didn't include merch in the membership, and sometimes I'd like to see other options, but they have to balance the desires of new members along with those of us who have been in since the start. One thing I'd like to see is a nice set of glasses, not tasting glasses, but full-on stemware. Tulips would be my preference, but I know a lot of people have an affinity for Teku glasses. In spite of the fact that most of us have plenty of glassware, it would still be cool, and it's something they haven't done before.

Edit: One general point I'll make about the merch is that your appreciation of past merch probably depends heavily on how often you wear hoodies. I have an extremely informal dress code at work, so I wear a hoodie almost every day. People who aren't fans of hoodies or don't have a lot of chances to wear them were far more likely to be unhappy with past merch.

 

i love my hoodie, wear it all the time and it fits right. ive heard the 2012 were not very comfortable. the 2010 hoodie sounds like the one to have!

 

I love hoodies, but my height has precluded me from being able to wear any of the RS hoodies. The shirts have been meh, as well. I love the growler bag, though, and am happy to get one with more capacity.

 

This is my first year as a RS member. The growler bag looks awesome and is something I certainly can use. I ordered one of the hoodies, but one hoodie is just about all I will ever need.

 

Hey guys,

There will be more of the same society taster glasses available for purchase in the coming months, possibly as soon as the end of next month. Sorry for the delay - we had to split the deliveries up. Note that the additional glasses will not be including the foam padded box (which works great for keeping the glass safe going to/from bottleshares and whatnot ).

My comment wasn't aimed at anyone specific. Just a general statement about how someone will always complain no matter what choice the Bruery makes. I have tons of glasses, a lot of hoodies and more beer than my wife wants me to have, so I am screwed any way they do it.
