I'm heading up there, this coming weekend, because the lady friend wants to go to the Dane County farmer's market. I have a few questions, though.

Is there anything craft beer(or even wine)related at the farmer's market? Also, I'm familiar with Woodsmans and Hyvee - are there any other stores that I shouldn't miss while I'm up there?

If anyone is interested in doing an in-person trade, let me know. I'll be bringing a few bottles with me.

Best stores to hit up: Rileys, Steves and Stars. Woodmans has good prices, but less dynamic a selection but all the regular off the shelf stuff is available at good prices there

First off, good choice! The Dane County farmer's market is really a great experience. I STRONGLY suggest the cheese bread....follow your nose and the crowd.

Secondly, there are no beer or wine sales at the market. But, since it's Wisconsin, alcohol is always a short distance away:wink:

Thirdly, there are many great places to stop. Riley's is a short walk from the market and a should stop. Right next store is Brickhouse, which has a pretty solid tap list and a varied menu. If it's nice out, which it should be, spend the whole morning walking to these places. State Street is right there, there are plenty of great restaurants/bars on the square, and Madison parking rates are laughably cheap.

    Have a great time!

First off, if you go to brickhouse you have to order the mac and cheese and put the Cholula hot sauce on it.

Second, make sure you visit the malthouse.

Third, I suggest checking out the Dane and Weary Traveler (bobs bad breath burger)

Store-wise: Jenifer St., Star, Riley's in that order. Woodmans and Steve's are great too for volume, but generally the first 3 are my go-to's. If short on time, Riley's is closest as BarrytheBear mentioned.

Old Fashioned on the square has 50+ WI beers on tap and a great brunch, Marigold Cafe is good for breakfast too. +1 to cheesy bread @the market

Thanks for the answers, folks. I hope that it's a good weekend for it. One more question - what Unplugged beers are on the shelves?
