Founders KBS Release (2014)

Going from 12 to 8 is a big deal. I'm in Chicago and this is a weekday. I have to take a day off of work and drive 6+ hours round trip for 8 beers? That's crazy. At 12 I could in theory treat myself to 1/month or at least have a few to trade.

I think that's the whole point. More locals will have a chance to get some than in years' past.

 

Finally realized that the actual cost of gas and theoretical cost of time away didn't work when spread over 8 KBS. Saves me time and money to just strike up a trade. Hopefully somebody in Michigan gets some extra and wants something from Bruery Reserve Society.

 

If you have never been to Grand Rapids then I understand why you would think that it's not "worth" driving for one beer but Grand Rapids is a really nice place. I went to visit in September and was skeptical about the city. There are so many small breweries with great food and offerings of their own beer. You go to founders for a day or two not for 4-8-12-whatever amount of beers of KBS, you go to check out the city. I honestly had more fun at some of the other local places then I ever did at Founders. Actually I paid a 5 dollar cover (which was foolish on my part), when in for a beer then left to go back to a place that I was at prior. I honestly didn't think Grand Rapids would offer so much, coming from living in Chicago, but it did.

Take it all in folks. Not just KBS/Founders but your beer experience in Grand Rapids as a whole.

 

Stop sucking up to the Michiganders. They don't like us and we don't like them!

 

Psh... It's not a GR/Chicago thing... It's more of an east/west side thing between Detroit and GR. So don't flatter yourselves!

 

Will kbs be on tap that whole week of kbs pickup or just that Saturday?

 

I would love to get KBS on my hands this year, but I don't know if it is worth to drive 3 and a half hours all the way to GR for just 8 bottles, even I love GR(went there last fall) Any chance Binny's will be selling those on April 1st?

 

Don't quite think flatter is the right word especially when you're comparing GR/Detroit to Chicago. If you read some of the posts from your fellow Michiganites, there's plenty of disdain for us FIB's. There might be an East/West thing with GR and Detroit but there is no doubt an Illinois/Chicago/Michigan thing as well.
So, how bout that KBS...

 

I always try and get KBS in my mouth... So hope I can score a ticket this year as well. Happy hunting!

 

No one's gonna travel to Grand Rapids in March without a good reason.

If anything, you're making a case to go somewhere like Huna Day. Tampa is a fun town to visit. And it's warm.
