Looking for advice. Where to go? Bottle shops? Beer I need to acquire / drink at the bar? I will be in Center city at 10 Avenue of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA 19102. tonight and tomorrow I will deff be going to monks
PhillyTapFinder.com is a great source, but it doesn't have a map where you locate nearby bars (@PhillyTapFinder ...something to consider?). In the area where you're staying, besides Monk's, I like Bru (very nice setting, a decent mix of German and craft beers, food is OK). Good Dog Cafe is a "cozy" place, good burgers, and beer selection there is usually good. I like Misconduct Tavern a lot, but last time I recommended it, the BA got screwed over with reservation (post #19) so do it at your own risk: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...th-good-food-to-watch-sunday-football.145988/ Happy birthday and have a great time! Stay warm.
+1 for misconduct. the owner ended up opening bottles from his own stash from his office when I was there over the summer after he oveheard me talking like a beer nerd. Bru had some real good stuff on tap.
Not cheap, but the draft list is nice: https://www.triacafe.com/taproom/ Closest bottle shop with a great selection: http://thecornerfoodery.com/ P.S. Don't call it the Avenue of the Arts, it's Broad Street. Seriously.
If you walked with a cane, drunk, via scenic route, yes . Hahaha...just giving a hard time, bro. Monk's is 3 blocks from where he's staying and he's already planning on going there.
I'm the guy that Misconduct screwed over. They tried to offer me a gift card to make up for it, but I refuse to accept it as a matter of principle. I second the previous vote for Tria Taproom. It's a little pricey, but they have some good stuff there, and I like the atmosphere. The flatbreads are also good. Go to their website ahead of time to see what they have on tap - it's updated to the minute using an automated system.
Might as well stop by Jose Pistola's (good beer, mexican food, maybe Joe Gunn) and Good Dog (Good beer, alright food) while you're around. Lunch at Tired Hands before heading back to Jersey. - Joe
I've always been pleased with Nodding Head brewpub. As far as I'm aware they were one of the first American brewers to make a Berliner Weisse, which is basically always on tap.
All are welcome to join. Yes I do say broad street, but just copied and pasted the Ritz location address. I lived a block away from the from 02 to 06 but was not into craft beer at the time.
Ahhh...not sure why I didn't see the option. Clicking on the link on the iPhone though just shows a map with nothing on it. I'm assuming it's fine on a laptop.
There's some location functionality, but it should be better. Going to start thinking seriously about some location features for a mobile version/app. Thanks, as always, for everyone's support and suggestions!
Would love a mobile app, even if location was a later added feature. I vote for Android first... Would also love a quick way to specifically search for cask & firkin.
