    Happy Mothers Day and NBS!

Gorgeous Spring day here in Oklahoma City, warm and a bit muggy with not much of a breeze.

Had this one in the fridge for a couple of weeks saving for this day and extremely happy with this magnificent brew which is my first time ever trying:

    Cheers to all ~

    New Stout Sundae

I was hanging at Boundary Bay earlier and a dude walked by and looked through the windows into the brewery. He mentioned that he always liked looking systems different from the one he worked on. I asked him where he worked, he replied, Harpoon in Boston. I asked him his name and if he wanted a tour. So I gave him one. We talked beer and then he rejoined his group. Meanwhile, I had been talking with a girl, things were going well enough, so I asked if she wanted to join the tour. Things went great until she mentioned her wife. Oh well. She ended up in no condition to ride her bike home, so I escorted her. It turned into an adventure. So, I'm now finishing up this well earned stout from PDX. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2980/16046 . Beer, brewers, drunk lesbians, and now sharing a brew with my friend Laura, who got stood up by her date today. Beer and commiseration, a fine way to end a Sunday.

It's in a pretty purple can, and it's $4 for 32oz. But it doesn't have a style listed on the can, so it might as well be a Black & Tan, even though it seemed more in the Amber range to me. Yuengling bottles/cans a blend of their Porter and Lager they sell as B&Ts, until craft brewers started using cans it was the best canned beer I'd ever had, pretty tasty.

    New Tripel Sundae

I thought I was done for the day, but I'm succumbing to beer pressure on another thread. So I'm finishing up with a nice 9+% ABV Tripel from a (relatively) new Washington brewery. Nice beer, hits all the right notes, but La Fin du Monde is only a buck more per 22: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25053/74655 .

Sorry, completely forgot to tell ya what I thought.

Speedway stout pretty much hit the spot. Dark black body, with a creamy brown head. Smelled mostly of chocolate and malts with a bit of some coffee lingering in there as well. Taste was right on the money, but a few more coffee notes than in the smell. It had a pretty creamy mouthfeel, not too heave but not too light either. Was well worth the pick-up.

Overall, maybe I paid a bit too much for the bottle, but I'm glad I atleast got to try it. It was pretty darn good.
