Two 4-packs, lol, no thanks. Especially if it's as mediocre and underwhelming as last years batch. Founders is really falling behind the curve.

Taking Thursday and Friday off work for the NCAA tournament so purchased a Friday ticket. Was in and out in about a minute. Then immediately left to get my Kuhnhenn meads. Good little Saturday. #SQUAD

Were glasses available to pick up the whole week last year? Or just for Saturday?

It's amazing how 20 dollars worth of beer is a deal breaker for people to drive 2+ hours... rly brah.

Everything is relative to comparables. KBS doesn't hold up well in a world with BA Abraxas, KBBS, 3 superior BA Mexican cakes, two BA Speedway releases, Track #10, multiple BA Hunah releases, and a vastly superior batch of BCBCS. Last years batch had zero bourbon presence, and it's not even a top 10 BA stout anymore, everyone else caught up and surpassed. Just look at the recent backstage releases.

to each their own...disagree...speedway does not compare at all, either does Abraxas...Mexican cake was good but I like KBS better...Love Hunah and the variances ive had....and sorry bcbcs is least of all...We get it..you hate KBS...

maybe you should spend your time crying in a different thread then. and when you are done there you can just go crack open one of your many BA Abraxas and enjoy. i know i cant wait until BA Abraxas, KBBS, BA Huna, BA Mex Cake, and BA Speedway hits stores in their wide distribution footprint so i can grab some up.

So were it 3 4-packs, you would have been more willing to get what will likely be to you a 'mediocre & underwhelming' beer?

i read this post again and it made me laugh. you are mad that you can only buy two 4 packs of a beer you dont like. so you would be there to buy the beer you dont like if you could buy more of it?

If a beer is more of an everyday beer, it's nice to be able to buy in quantity. KBS is still an above average beer, just lacking when it compares to other the top tier stouts. For something widely distributed I'd take this year's batch of BCBCS or even regular BCBS any day of the week. In fact I suspect the recipe has been modified several times, for example I know they stopped using real vanilla in 2009, and I wouldn't be surprised if they used 3rd use bourbon barrels on last years batch. They've changed the name from Kentucky Breakfast Stout to KBS, and now it's a "Flavored" stout.

I was mostly hoping this years batch would be back to old form, but small limits aren't worth the bother for something that's not top tier and now less accessible. Founders is moving towards a Stone business model and away from the roots that put them on the map. I suppose it's only natural given the expansion.

so why are you posting in this thread if you dont like the beer? do you want founders to read it and make better beer? do you want all of us to not go so they will make better beer? do you just want us to know that you drink better beer than us? you say small limits arent worth going. do you realize that it is actually a fun event in a great town and on top of that you get to bring great beer home?

I cant fathom how someone can call a beer that is consistently named top 5 or 10 in the world an "above average" beer.

I had to stop reading there.

Those same lists consistently rank Pliny the Elder and Westy 12 in the top 5 also. They're rather dubious in nature especially after you've had other things that are out there and much better.
