It's not about your personal preferences or enjoyment of Guinness. It's only about your claim that "it's absolutely better in the Emerald Isle" which is a claim of fact that is open to dispute. That's all, nothing more.

If you had said something like "I enjoyed the Guinness I had in Ireland more than any I've had elsewhere", I wouldn't have said a word.

Lol.. & I get there's a bunch of Guinness. Was talking about the straight up Draft, most folks only know about.
Talk about petty, you must be pretty bored. It was basicly a loose estimate, a lot of light beers are 4.5 & under. Usually anything 4.5 & under is considered a Light beer. In case you Still didn't get it.
Lets Throw Down! How 'bout sum FistiCuffs? Hahaa..yeah, lets fight about Light beer technicalities. Don't drink 'em, Don't really care..you can have mine.

-personally, (I) consider anything under 6% a light beer.

I feel its also the best offering they make.. Not because of the higher ABV either. Everyone seems to be jumping all over me about my Previous "draft" meant comments & low ABV.
    Lol

Your response of "Its only 4.3% for starters" to the question "What's wrong with Guinness?" made me think that you had something against Low ABV brews.

Perhaps it just tastes better when drank in a 200 year old pub that sits minutes from the brewing establishment while surrounded by the sights and culture of it's country of origin.

Also, the Irish go through so much of it that you'd have to make a sincere effort to find a pint that wasn't brewed several moments before pouring...hyperbole for the humorless. In Ireland, pouring and drinking a pint of Guinness is nearly a sacred ritual. Say all you wish about that not affecting the flavor, but in my opinion the drinking experience is always a contributing factor to how we taste beer.

*Source material derived from many too many pints of Guinness poured on the emerald ilse.

Side note to the 'car bomb' discussion: Girlfriend's ignorant acquaintance ordered one of those in a Dublin pub and received a severe beating from the other patrons. Personally, I've always known them to be a shot of Baileys dropped into a pint of Guinness and slammed with abandon. And if getting irresponsibly drunk in a short frame of time doesn't bother you, they actually taste pretty good.

Personal plans for St. Patrick's Day? Probably going to work and doing nothing out of the ordinary sounds the most enjoyable. This would have been heresy in college but I'm several years removed from that. Plus, I live on a busy and bar crowed street so even if I end up writing papers in my apartment, I will still have a great view of the green colored mob making regrettable decisions.

But hell, I might end up buying a pint of Guinness in the end, even if it is poured from a widget can at a safe distance.

....just a quick bit of advice, don“t say St. Pattys day, ....ever.
Paddys day or Patricks day are both fine, anything else makes Irish puppies die and Irish mothers cry.

The "ritual" of pouring a Guinness is only necessary because of the nitro dispense. The technique is needed for any nitro stout and isn't something "sacred" or special that's unique to Guinness. It has absolutely no effect on the taste of Guinness or any other beer. I've spent six weeks in Ireland and enjoyed many of the old traditional pubs. I drank Guinness when there was nothing better available and it was the same bland, mediocre stout that is served here, in Canada, and in Britain.

Guinness is the most over hyped beer in the world. Despite many people's romanticised notions, the claim that Guinness is better in Ireland is nothing but a silly myth.
