I am a huge fan of PM, have been for years.

I will say I did NOT buy any at the Anniversary Party. And I've never had an infected bottle.
Just didn't seem right to me.

I hate this thread. I feel like have a terrorist sleeper cell in my damn cellar.

So--in the name of science--we are having ourselves a Peruvian Morning drinking party. I can say, so far we've had four. Each from a different four-pack. Two of the four-packs came from CW at the Anni party, the other two were purchased yesterday locally.

None are infected. All taste awesome. I'm going to continue getting faded for science. You are welcome.

Really? People reporting individual cases is one thing. If CW is issuing a recall, it's all entirely justified.

The bottle I had last night my buddy got at the anniversary party. I had a bottle tonight that I bought in Minnesota and it was very good.

This may be second-hand, but someone tweeted on @WSJbeerbaron that Peruvian Morning is also being pulled off shelves in Iowa. Really sucks that they have to do that just as soon as they begin rolling out their lineup in Iowa.

I don't know if I'm getting all worked up after all this talk, but I just drank the first bottle tonight and I'm getting a little bit of tart cherries. Wish I could get my money back and buy something else.

Drank first one last night and it was excellent. Got two 4 packs just before they pulled them in Iowa so we'll see how the rest turn out.

Wait, where did yo find the cherry stout!? :stuck_out_tongue:
That sucks. I had my third bottle last night and it was damn good. I even put in a teaspoon of vanilla for fun.

Based on information shared from previous years--including directly from CW--there was never a doubt if it was infected. There wasn't a "hint of tart" or some slight off flavor. It was straight up, unquestionably sour.

I'm not saying this happened to you, but I wonder how many people just freak out and start looking for something off or wrong. Our minds are pretty powerful tools that will convince you of something if you look hard enough for it.

I'll continue to buy and drink them until CW says something or until I get one that I can't drink. Cheers!

If the bottles are infected, they will likely have no sign of it in the nose or taste for some time. Pretty sure that in the last couple years of infected PM, they did not ship out the bottles already showing major infection signs. Stuff like this may not be apparent for weeks.

This is kind of sounding like it's becoming a case of Peruvian Roulette!

I'll enter a guilty plea here. The second bottle I had this year seemed a bit sour at first. But that went away by the sixth or seventh sip. I chalked it up to a psychosomatic response.

It's true. I know all accounts in Des Moines and Iowa City were instructed by Central Waters to pull Peruvian Morning off the shelves. Glad I got a 4pk before they pulled them on Friday. I've had one and its drinking amazingly. Would have loved to get more, but can't now. :slight_frown:

I saw your tweet before any of this started and made sure to grab a half case.

It's good to know because it's exactly what I was doing....looking for what's wrong with it when it might just perfectly fine!

It is w/ great displeasure that I have to confirm the infection :slight_frown: just popped this open and upon first sip can immediately tell it's in the early stage of infection. Sour/tart in the taste and it transitions into the mouthfeel by making it seem tingly and over-carbed. One of my favorite beers of all time fresh, but if your gonna have infection issues three straight years and not figure it out, then maybe it's time to pull the plug on this one. I know I will be. I love Central Waters, the crew, and all that they do but just can't justify purchasing this one any more. Farewell Peruvian Morning.

i bought a 4-pack at the Sixteen release in Amherst back in January. I drank a couple right away, they were wonderful and very dark-roast coffee tasting. The other 1 or 2 I waited a month to drink and I recall thinking they weren't as good, but nothing too off. Last week I bought a couple 4-packs and when I opened one it was a little tart at first, so i let it warm up and it got a bit better, but the coffee was still super muted.

    This. Sucks.

I drank a couple right after the party and I enjoyed them as well, but after popping this one just now, it's a tragedy :slight_frown: coffee in the nose, but not the taste. The tartness is immediately noticeable and you can tell things are only going to progress. It's not un drinkable at the moment, but I bet it doesn't take long to get to that point... Very unfortunate.
