Agreed, I think this is a really good system for second round sales. It looks like Bois Fume and Smooth Criminal might not have met their sales expectations, considering they're both at 3/6 limits for the second round.

How often are you drinking it? I enjoyed it, but I'd be concerned about finding occasions to open it before the coffee character starts to degrade.

I am quasi local so I was able to get my first pour on draft, then opened one a few weeks down the line. I let one go in a trade for a 3L supplication and have one in the fridge currently that I plan to open soon. So that leaves me with4-5 left (one slated for a bottle share in late march). While I agree that IPAs and some beers are best fresh, I have no fear that MW will drop off an imaginary cliff after 2-3 months. I have had Melange 8 recently and it remains a coffee bomb so with both M8 and MW being made with the Portola Coffee lab product I project it will hold up.

If more were made available I might drink one more often, but it would likely loosen my grip on them and let me send a couple more out in exchange for other hot commodities.

What does the MW label say about drinking? One thing I noticed with Melange #8 was that it said it was cellar-able for a number of years, whereas Mash & Grind said to drink fresh. I wonder if that's why Melange #8 is a coffee bomb because it's meant to be aged.

Agree that it won't drop off a cliff, but considering all of the strong flavors that are present in MW, I could see the coffee declining - and while it doesn't just drop off a cliff, it does decline in most beers - to the point where you may as well be drinking Black Tuesday.

Fair enough, and I'm not trying to imply the beer won't hold up, moreso just a question of balancing the frequency with which one can open 19% ABV beers against when the coffee will slide downwards and lose the oomph that balances it against the other components of the beer.

Personally, I'd love to see them extend the SHIT concept to Mocha SHIT - give a 10 - 12% ABV imperial stout the coffee treatment. I quite enjoy the way it works with the BT base, but I'd enjoy it even more if I could open it without the side effects of a 19% ABV beer.

When do beers come up for the second chance sale? I haven't see smooth criminal or Bois fume at all today.

Yeah, I'm curious about this too... I haven't gotten emails related to any of this recent conversation. Filmishmish, Smoking Wood, Or Xata, second chance M9..

I looked at the online store at around 8:45 AM PST on Saturday and they were back up for second chance. If you're not seeing them, I would try logging out and logging back in. If that doesn't solve it, shoot 'em an email.

I'm assuming that means they're still up? Tried the sign out sign in deal. No dice. Shot off an email.

Still up and I'm able to add them to my cart. Are you HS or RS? I recall something from last fall saying that leftovers would first be available to HS, then RS, then potentially PS. Perhaps they're doing that, can anyone who's RS seem them? Seems odd that they'd leave an RS limit in the item description, but maybe they just didn't fully edit the item descriptions when they put them back up.

That would explain it, I'm RS as well.

I see them fine but can't add to cart. I was wondering originally if it had to do something of whether you ordered it previously or not?

Hmmm... I'm not a huge fan of sours yet and I don't like smoked beers so this month is a little bit of a bust for me. I was mainly interested in Tripel Tonnellerie. I'll try one bottle of Filmishmish to see if I like it.

So now HS beers can go to RS and PS members? I hope Melange #9 is taken off the Hoarders exclusive list.

All of the beers are up for resale to HS members for now. It looks like if they remain unsold, then they open it up to RS, then PS. Also, that might just be for Smooth Criminal and Bois Fume. The e-mail wasn't entirely descriptive.

I hear ya. This month kinda sucks, was really looking forward to the tripel. I personally love sours, but from the reviews I read filmishmish is quite sour, which is against my preference of gently sour sours. Smoking wood is good but...it's still on the shelves by me.

I am thinking M9 won't make it down to RS/PS sales. It doesn't make sense to me to give HS the option to buy only one more bottle if there is enough to offer RS/PS.

I for one am happy with a slow month, less wallet damage done. I wish the limit was higher for Filmishmish though. I would gladly soak up any unused allotments.....just saying....

Good point. I guess my wallet is pretty thankful for this month. If they had a Grey Monday type release every month I definitely wouldn't be able to afford it.

well, with Firestone cranking out Parabola, Feral and Beachwood's 8 Buffalo, my wallet is hurting already. So a slow month is a welcomed experience.
