Jester King bottles also show up in NYC now (randomly, it seems). We managed to hit Tree House on our way back from HF, and it was well worth it. Got there just before closing.

definitely call the warren store before committing to it. I do a similar trip from CT, and always call the warren store, to decide warren or HF first. If Lawsons is a small delivery and something that I am not interested in, I go directly to HF... also HF could be a 1-2hr line.

I would wait until you can plan an enjoyable weekend in Vermont instead of just driving 12+ hours to pick up some bottles of beer.

And if IPA's are not your favorite, it may not be worth going to Warren. They may only have Lawson's DIPA, doubtfull there be any "choices".

Mom and kids out of town. Dad puts 1000 miles on the car in a day and fills the house with beer. Awesome.

Where in the Bronx are you? I'm also from the Bronx and have done a few trips to VT and back in one day.

If I were you, my plan would be leave at 5am and go straight up to Hill Farmstead. Hopefully you'll get there for 11:30am or so and be outta there pretty quick. I'd then go to Hunger Mountain in Montpelier to stock up on all things VT. You can then either eat at Three Penny or head over to Waterbury and eat at Pro Pig and check out Craft Beer Cellar.

I highly doubt you'll be able to fit much else in. Like I said, I've done this trip a few times with similar stops and I'm usually home around 9pmish.

Sounds workable to me. I live about a hour from Lawson's. Hunger Mountain is a great beer store.
While in Montpelier you may want to lunch at Three Penny Pub about a half mile from Hunger Mnt.
You'll need a GPS to find Hill Farmstead. I would Opt for Ryan & Casey's beer store on 55 Main St
in Greenfield, MA. Hope it works out for you.

I saw Ryan & Casey's, but opted out. But if you think it's worthwhile I might give it a try instead of Table & Vine. Odds on rare belgians? I hate to spend $100 on Cantillon in NY. Spent $43 on Schaerbeekse as it is, my most ever.

You definitely won't find Cantillon on the shelves at either store. Never even see much Drie Fonteinen at Table & Vine.

Very good. I guess NY is my best bet there. Last time I saw Iris for $50 and Rose and Kriek Lambic for $100.

Between the 2 though, which one is better? Where would I have a better shot at barrel aged Framinghammer variants?

No barrel aged framinghammer varients left at T&V as of now, probably won't be any at the popular shops like Ryan and Casey, etc if you aren't planning this trip for awhile. The telephone is your friend.

Thanks, I'm not so on top of the New England seasonal release schedule, especially for VT, MA, and CT-only beers.

I really appreciate you creating this thread. I've recently discovered work is sending me to Albany for a couple days this Spring and have been contemplating squeezing a quick VT trip in while there before driving back to Philly. Until now I didn't know what stores to hit, other than HF, in order to pick up the quintessentials; however, looks like I'll now need to research Warren and Hunger Mtn

    Hi All,

There's a decent chance that I might take that trip now instead of in June. Based on what I've read I think it might be prudent for me to skip Warren altogether. If I go on a Wednesday, I would plan to hit Waterbury (Alchemist delivery) and then Hill Farmstead. On The Alchemist's website they say they deliver to stores in Waterbury on Wednesdays. Anybody know what time of day those shipments arrive? And what are my chances of scoring their other offerings (FB & PM)? I would call a store or two the day before anyway to make sure nothing wonky is going on (like a random closing or whatever), but I thought I'd check here first.

    Thanks all.

0%. They were special releases and sold out in a few hours.

Sweet happy awesomecakes. I guess I'll just have to survive with HT and anything else I might find in VT and on the way back.

Also I can't really complain; a supermarket 5 minutes from home just expanded their beer section, so I scored 4-packs of BCBBW and BCBCS + a Sucaba yesterday.

If I end up driving up this week I'll report back with my results.

    Cheers!

The backroads are entering the sloppy end of winter. How are your tires and winter driving skills? Though you'll only be off pavement for 5-6 miles heading up to HF; patience can overcome a lot of equipment deficiencies.

Well... funny you should ask, because my wife is taking the kids in our SUV and I was planning on renting a cheap economy car for a couple of days while she's gone. Bad idea?
