I will be flying into Tampa tomorrow and staying in Sarasota for a few days. Just wondering what places I should hit up while I'm there. I'm from Chicago and don't get to the south very often. I know cigar city is near the Tampa airport, but is there anything else I should be looking out for?? What are the best liquor stores in Sarasota/Tampa?? I'll pick up some Jai Alai for sure... Anything else's can't get in IL? I'm really in to IPA's and Stouts.
Just a heads up this is Tampa Bay Beer Week, so there are literally hundreds of beer related events going on all over the area. If you are planning a trip to Cigar City expect some massive crowds pretty much every night, and Saturday is Hunahpu's Day, so unless you have a ticket you will be sent away.
In Sarasota hit Mr. Beery's and Beer Box for drinking. For bottles, hit Total Wine and the ABC stores on both University Parkway and Bee Ridge Rd. Sarasota Wine has two stores(one on Cattleman and one on US41) that can have some decent stuff from time to time.
If in the Sarasota/Bradenton area you can check out Motorworks Brewing too. Its a new joint and they have some kinks to work out but its has been beautifully done.
Its all Tampa to me, considering I live in Venice. Its like saying Sarasota is near Gulf Gate. An easy ride for a guy riding a dirt bike (joke)
Heading that way at the end of the month wondering if motor works in Bradenton is kid friendly at all. I think they have a full food menu right? And I've been to Mr beerys too that place is awesome.
I brought my kids to Motorworks and they didnt have any problems. By the time we left a few other children were there. As for food, they had a local food truck there when I visited.
3 Daughters Brewing in St Pete is really family friendly. Giant jenga, giant Connect Four, darts (real ones, so those aren't too kid-friendly), corn hole, and a mini golf course. They're gonna be releasing a root beer pretty soon so the kids (and those of us who still love root beer) can drink, too. Food trucks happen over there, too.
haha yes, mini golf. My brother lives just down the street, and we went there after my niece's birthday party last weekend. They were building an outside deck for drinking and tables. I'll be swinging by this afternoon to pick up a growler (and hopefully scoring some more of that barrel aged porter they dropped earlier this week).
1 winter warmer less at Bee Ridge ABC BTW (thanks to me...). 3 or 4 left... just saying (not going fast)
