"But we’re not done with the Stochasticity Project. In taking ownership of it, we’re adding on our surname and will continue to throw random and superiorly intriguing beers into the brew schedule, using the Stone Stochasticity Project as a way to get them distributed to our fans. Next up is Varna Necropolis, a most interesting, hoppy, Belgian-style golden strong ale that’s been aged in bourbon whiskey barrels. And right now, we’re toying with a Belgian-style quadrupel brewed with Pilsner malt, dark candi sugar and flaked triticale, a cross between rye and wheat. Yeah, just your everyday brews, right? More like ales unlike anything Stone has ever brewed. And that’s the point. We want to explore the outer limits and we want our fans to come along for the ride. So hop on board, hold on tight and enjoy the ride. We guarantee, there’ll be plenty of outstanding beer served along the way."

Cool. The Grapefruit Slam was good, but I didn't see it as exploring any outer limits.

So they've overhopped a pale Belgian strong and barrel-aged it? Blech.

I said something like "blech" when I first heard about last year's coffee DIPA, but it turned out that Dayman was in fact the shit.

Much more excited for this than the grapefruit slam.

what will the price range look liek for this. Anything that stone has that touches a barrel is grossly overpriced

Could be near $12, I'd think. Which is a bummer, but I'll still buy a bottle.

These are some crazy ideas. I like the idea of the Grapefruit Slam, and I intend to try it soon. Not sure I like the idea of a BBA hoppy strong BPA; seems like way too much...everything. Just too much stuff.

Then again, Curieux is generally highly regarded, and a BBA Belgian Tripel isn't exactly a traditional style, either.

I'm excited to see what they put out, but I hope they're not being eccentric simply for eccentricity's sake.

Grapefruit Slam was decent. But I would have appreciated it a lot more if Massachusetts didn't charge $8.99 a bottle for it. Especially after someone posted a pic from a California costco that had it for $5.99.

I saw Grapefruit Slam at Trader Joe's in a few areas for $8 per bottle. Had no interest in that, but if this one is the same price, I'd definitely consider picking one up.

Any thoughts on Stone no longer pretending it's not theirs?

I thought that was interesting too, very subtle on the first release, but maybe they figured out that everyone knew anyway and decided not to hide it

Doesn't sound good, I'll hold off on trying it unless rave review convince me otherwise.

Grapefruit slam was delicious if not super experimental. I'll definitely try this though and most likely anything they release. They are sort of good at making beer.

Kinda my thought too. I bet it will be similar price wise to Woot Stout, which wasn't that expensive. Maybe only partially BA.

I was curious as to how long Stone would keep their name off these bottles. Apparently not long.
