PtY will be tapped at VSP on March 1st 4:20pm

Also, Tuesday the 28th they're tapping some rare stouts at 4:20pm

Ooooh. I think this might be in the cards for me.
While not "super" rare, they also have the last keg in town of the Renegade Peanut Butter Cup Impy stout. I haven't had it, but supposedly it's great. They're tapping that one at 4:20 on Monday.

Anyone been to the Vine Street tapping in years past? Not sure I'd be able to get there early to get in line or grab a ticket or however they handle it.

You know what they are charging? OB in Longmont is also tapping PTY tonight. I'm just not willing to pay $12 for a 10oz pour. Its a great beer. but come on

It's been $10 at most places and roughly that same price (or less) in the past. VSP doesn't mark things up too much, so I'd be shocked it it was more.
I made it to the VSP tapping 2 years ago and it was shockingly not too crazy for the first half hour or so. I got there at 4:10'ish and was only the 6th or 7th ticket.
After a half hour or so and everyone got one, they were letting people get another since they had enough. It took maybe 90 minutes to 2 hours to run out.
Probably the least chaotic tapping of the Younger I've been to, although I think that was when these events were still a bit more under the radar.
Not sure about it being the best beer and all of that (I still think Andechs beats 'em all) but for a hoppy super strong beer it's as easy drinking as they come. It's definitely not *just* hype, but there are certainly other beers in the same league.

Has VSP made any prediction as to when they will become the VSP&B?

About a month ago they said 60-90 days. It's all paper work now. Since this facility will provide beer to the other two, and those other two will fill growlers, there's some red-tape to cut through. Some law states that growlers can only be filled with beer brewed on premise...or something like that.

    Howdy,

That means it's 30 to 90 days now!

    Thanks, Roger

This is definitely not true, as FYIPA, XXX, Amber, and Quinn's are all brewed exclusively at Southern Sun and are all offered as growler fills at Mountain Sun

Then I guess they lied to me  Or they're breaking the law....

They are setting up (or have set up) a separate "trading" entity to deal with this. Perhaps the Boulder locations are part of it already, and VSP just has to wait? Complicated mess, I'm sure

The Manager at Vine Street told me the same thing: VSP will brew all their "normal" beers and the other two will start concentrating on their more limited releases.

Perhaps Boulder's operations have stayed under the radar?

VSP said they should hope to start brewing on March 1st. That said, I figure they'll start serving the beer they're brewing by mid-late March.

Anybody hitting this up tomorrow night? I'm planning on heading over around 3:30 or so. Are they doing growler fills yet? I haven't been out that way in a while and with all this talk about finally brewing on premises, I'm hoping they might be filling growlers or at least planning on doing fills soon.

No growlers. My understanding is that the fed paperwork has gone through and now they're in the City zoning/planning approval process. Don't quote me on that, but you can quote me on the "no growlers yet".

No PtY for me tomorrow, unfortunately. Have fun!

I don't have much input on time to get there, though their Facebook page says "Supplies are extraordinarily tight, so if you can’t do without a Pliny the Younger, we encourage you to arrive by 4pm." The Renegade Peanut Butter tapped at 420 and only lasted for about 25 minutes, but the Barrel Ten Fidy lasted for a long time. Sounds like the PtY tapping at Cheeky Monk was pretty mellow, too, so it's really hard to say what Vine will be like today.

I would go tonight, but already had 3 pours of it for the year (1st & 2nd tapping at FRTH), and gave up 'drinking' beer for lent. I live like 10 blocks north of VSP too, it's borderline torture.

They just posted a little more info on their Facebook page. Thought I'd share it with you guys...

"Today at 4:20pm the Vine Street Pub is doing a special tapping of Russian River's Pliny the Younger. We will be handing out numbers on a first come, first serve line up. Get here early and get a glass while it lasts!"
