I thought last year people in WI ended up getting infected PM as well? I got lucky and did not get any bad ones last year, but 2012.... whole other story right there. So many of them were bad after a month, blargh.

Seemed hit or miss. A bartender at the Old Fashioned in Madison gave me a taste of PM last August and it was fine. He was surprised when I asked him about infection issues.

Sorry – if I'm trying to make any argument, it's just that it seems like some people seem intent on exaggerating the problem to unlikely proportions. Regardless of my personal experience, given what CW has said about their process and the infection issue, I have a very hard time believing bottles of 2014 that can't be more than (at most) a few weeks old taste the way some here have described.

to be fair, my description of cat piss covered coffee beans was from last year. the ones ive had this year have tasted great.

The ones I've had taste like a more carbonated PM with a subtle Cherry taste. Not much coffee at all.

Similar experience, I bought my 4pk on 1/25/14, and tried 3 of the 4 bottles in the last week, all the same taste with very little coffee and an unpleasant, rather apparent tartness.

I'm guessing some people are just more sensitive than others to the off-flavors the infection is causing, so the same beer might taste fine right now to some, and be way off to others (similar to the variability in diacetyl sensativity for example).

omitting 2 letters would make a drastic yet relevant change.

Yeah, I definitely had some bad ones last year. Even this year at the brewery I felt something was a little off, but I chalked it up to drinking too much Exodus. Luckily I only have one 4 pack of PM that will be getting drank tonight.

i, for one, am shocked that a brewery cranking out 1/50th (less) the volume of these major midwestern stalwarts isn't able to outdo them in every respect.

    AN OUTRAGE, I SAY

Central Waters barrel aged beers are my go to but they need to figure this out. This is a bad deal.

I find it hard to believe anyone would not notice an infected PM. Consider it luck that your PM isn't infected. To those who said the PM sold out of state is bad and all in state PM sold is fine that's not true at all.

When I was drinking my first infected PM the first sip was like hmm that didn't taste quite right, but because of my past experience with CW beers I kept drinking it until about half way through my state of denial turned into reallity and poured it out. It seems like a couple of posters here think that the people who are reporting infected PM have overly sensitive palates and actually think the PM is fine.

i believe it to be true but i also believe there's a hive mind thing happening and some are over-reacting

"my first sip was like hot urine and garbage mixed in a blender with manure and diarrhea. ALL CENTRAL WATERS BEER IS HORRIBLE AND THE BREWERY SHOULD BE BURNED TO THE GROUND!!"

it's like one guy is trying to top the previous guys outrage

i'm one of the lucky ones. no infected/sour/bad Peruvian Morning for me. just curious about how much of this is people actually getting bad beer, how much is people hopping on the bus to bash and how much could potentially be a palate variation issue (i.e., vegetal Gubna)?

seems like there is definitely an issue but it's one some people haven't encountered, some people don't seem to mind, some people have encountered and moved on from and some people may or may not have tasted but want to explode with righteous internet anger.

    so, internet

I don't think this fits with their environmentally sustainable mantra. At the very least, it's probably cost prohibitive to do in a way that works for them. Especially when it's only necessary for one or two of their beers.

Cant speak to that of 2014 but the last two years (2013 and 2012) both have a sour twang that develops and gets worse over time

When it comes to their BA beers I'm not sure they're outdoing them in any respect right now.

i'd put the BA Barleywine up against anything from Founders, Bells, Goose. from a brewery with a fraction of the funding and brewing capacity i'd say that's pretty impressive. to even be in the conversation is a feat.

Have to agree on this one. BCBS is still clearly better overall than CW BBS (albeit coming at the style from a different angle), but CW BBBW definitely tops BCBBW.
