Late Night BeerAdvocate - Monday

Decided to try something new tonight. I've been sick, and needed enough beers to get me to sleep for work in the morning.

Lakefront Fuel Cafe Coffee Stout

Pretty meh. Thin, low ABV, not much flavor there other than maybe a weak cup of coffee with too much cream/sugar in it. It's not terrible, and I could see how you could pound a bunch of 'em back, but ehhh. Glad I just got 1 12-er of it in my mixed 6. Looks great in the glass though. Kinda like the hot chick in school, till you find out it's like throwing a hot dog down the hallway.

 

my wife thru out my copy and erased it from the computer. i dont think she is a fan.

 

Just finished dinner and am now drinking this while watching the Lakers vs. Thunder (Go Lakers!). Also, I had to pick up a Duvel glass after seeing so many pictures of them on here

 

although not the highest score in the world, your "good example of the style that I'd drink again." has sold me that i am interested in picking one of these up. i was a pretty big fan of the long ireland black friday and really dug a few of the blind bat offerings i've tried. i think i'll need to pick one of these up. cheers joey!

Tasty beer. More hops than I was expecting from an RIS, but they were well-balanced with the other flavors and really added to the taste and mouthfeel. I should've known better with Stone.

Watching the Thunder now. I hope the Lakers get their shit kicked in.

Saw that one on the website over the weekend and I want one! I have one exactly like it that I got at the Lost Abbey, 'has to be one of the coolest, most elegant glass styles I've ever seen.

 

Started off with a can of Heady Topper. Have a couple buddies heading over now--going to either tackle a bunch of hoppy beers that are in the fridge (Palate Wreaker, Hoptimum, Maine Zoe, et al) or the darker beers (HF Everett, Life&Limb, Washington's Tavern Porter, et al). We'll see what the others are feeling!

 

Water for me tonight....unfortunately watching the Cards lose to the Cubs.

I recork big stouts pretty often to split over two nights and they hold up very well. I recork them with this stopper that was a three dollar grocery store pickup. They work just fine, there is only the slightest effect on carbonation over one night as long as there's about half of the liquid left in the bottle. The more air in the bottle the worse the results will be after stopped. I could always sanitize a 12oz bottle to stop, but it's really not worth the effort if I'm just leaving it for a day.

You know it! Just got done watching the Avengers with my sons & now some Thunderage! Tall Greass 8-Bit PA & then a Sam Adams Griffin's Bow.

 

Great now I have pastrami envy.
