I had some Due South Mariana Trench at Huna '14 and absolutely loved it. Due South's website says that Brown distributes for them between Orlando and the keys. I live in Lakeland and was wondering if anyone knew where the closest place I could snag a few of these?

They haven't botteled (I should say canned bc thats how they do it) Mariana Trench yet, only Category 3 IPA, Category 5 IPA, and UXO. I don't think you have Brown in Lakeland but you are close enough to Orlando to make a trip out of it. I would check Total Wine or ABC up there that use Brown.

I've never seen them in Tampa, other than at my local Brass Tap during TBBW where they were able to somehow get a keg or two.

I'm glad you liked the Trench. We are not yet distributed in Tampa. We just opened up Orlando a few weeks ago. We have a couple new 60 bbl tanks and our canning line that will be here within a month. This will help us make more package to go out. Then we have plans for a new brewhouse probably early next year. This should all allow us to open up distro to the awesome Tampa market.

Also we did bottle Marian Trench back in January when we released it. We did about 400 bottles and they lasted a couple weeks. January will always be our yearly release of Trench.

Lakeland gets Brown Distribution. For some weird reason Lakeland is Brown territory even though it's closer to Tampa (JJ Taylor) than Orlando.

Distribution is a strange thing. It can be so strange that it hurts my head thinking about it, kind of like trying to make sense of a time traveling story line in a movie or TV show. Brown is technically a statewide distributor, they cover much of the state but do not carry certain breweries in certain areas based off of their contract they have signed.

Distribution contracts are signed based off of counties and currently we are only signed to have beer distributed in Palm Beach, Broward, Dade, Monroe, Martin, St Lucie, Indian River, Brevard, Volusia, Seminole and Orange. Believe me, we would love to get the folks of the Tampa Bay area our beer. We just must make enough to get there and not hinder the markets we are already in.

Can I ask why you would need a new brewhouse when you have a ton of room (or at least had a ton of room last time I was there) at your current place? I can see the canning line taking up quite a bit of room, but I thought when Mike decided to start at that location a lot of the decision was due to the ammount of space already existing.

New brewhouse would mean new mashtun/brew kettle not necessarily moving to a new location. It could mean that, but I think he just means bigger system, existing space.

Is there package in Orlando yet or just draft? I know Due South is on at Tap & Grind (which rules, everyone, and is where you should go for Due South and Funky Buddha brews in Orlando) but haven't tried hunting down package, if it exists.

Demand has increased considerably for our product and we want to keep up with that demand and expand out a little more.

As for our space at our current location we are exploring our options with how much we can expand here and if there is the option for additional space close by. Our empty space is filling up quickly. We've added two 60 bbl fermentors and a 60 bbl brite tanks in the last year. Along with more fermentors and a chaining line our space is filling up quick. That also doesn't take into account the increase in grain storage because of brewing more.

According to my February report, both Total Wines in Orlando have our cans along with ABC at 2726 S Orange Ave.

We love Jason at Tap & Grind. He is a big supporter of local, especially us since he is originally from Boynton Beach.

Headed to Total Wine after work. Boom.

And we love that you love him. I was with the big Reverse Tap Takeover group from TaG that came to your brewery and we had an AWESOME time.

Thank you so much Mike! I spent most of this weekend calling distributors and visiting local retail stores I'm Lakeland and Tampa. Hopefully we will be getting the distribution sooner than later haha but I can wait however long it takes to get some Mariana Trench. Great beer that is very drinkable for such a strong ABV. Perfect harmony with the great chocolate taste! I'll try and make way to Orlando and stop by Total Wine in the meantime for the Category IPAs!

I'm happy you enjoyed our stuff. It makes it so worth it to come up to an event in a place we aren't distributed in when people really enjoy it. Cheers!
