Virginia Beach / Norfolk 3/15

    I'll be in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas this weekend. Sunday is already booked with a light run in VA Beach, but Saturday afternoon I'm going to be hitting The Birch. I'm bringing along a stout that was recently released in Tampa with almost no hubbub whatsoever. Just wanted to mention it, if there are fellow BAs who might be free.

    Also: anyone have a recommendation for a great carb-y place for an early dinner on Saturday night? Pasta/rice/bread-heavy type meal. I do have a vehicle for the two days, so it doesn't need to be walking distance to anything in particular. Suggestions appreciated!

    Google/check out Chow in Norfolk, plenty of heavy items on there and its overall a good spot to eat, and not too far from Birch.

    If you're going to the Birch, you need to walk down to Smartmouth. Its only like a block away and they have a KILLER iipa and imperial stout. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30225/
    Tortilla West is also around the corner - better than average Mexican-inspired food.

    My favorite restaurant nearby is Luna Maya. I've never eaten at Chow but I hear good things. Their bar/selection is impressive. For pasta, go to Felini's - very close to Chow.

    Very cool! I may be free this weekend. I tend to always hit The Birch up when they open on Saturdays (3pm). Stay in touch and hopefully we could meet up for a beer.

    Had a great time, and thanks to all for suggestions - I hit Chow for lunch (great cocktail and awesome chicken & dumplings), then Smartmouth, The Birch, and Luna Maya for a light dinner. Enjoyed all of them very much, and will come back someday once I get over all the windburn. (Seriously. How is it possible that you are always running straight into a headwind in Virginia Beach, no matter how many turns you make? It must be like the end of the wind universe there. Bizarre.)
