Sweeter than I expected and lots of alcohol. My buddy celebrated his 10th birthday today so I wanted to make it special. The closest thing i can compare it to is the Utopias. There are bottles out there, I don't have what it takes to get another one, but they are out there.

Always a nervous time of year, although seems a bit early (warm winter I suspect). A lot of people are still in recovery from last May. Joplin has a long way to go to get back to semi-normal when it comes to just the visible scars, let alone any deeper spiritual or mental wounds. I count blessings every day or at least hope to remeber to do so. Freestate Copperhead, next

Left Coast Brewing - Hop Juice, coming in at 9.7% ABV. It's...ok. Smell and taste are mediocre at best.

Ruthless Rye and that's all the good beer in the house. Might have to crack open an old-ass Yuengling after this day.

I've yet to have anything from the series. What's the verdict on the stout?

I'm actually in the middle of an extended beer fest, but since I learned that nothing counts on Leap Day (thank you, 30 Rock and Leap Day William!), I took a break from it today. Started with some of my homebrew s'mores porter with ghost peppers and then cracked one of my two bottles of Ale Industries' Someone Talked Elijah Craig 18 imperial coffee stout. It's an exclusive they made for Healthy Spirits for this SF Beer Week. Pretty good with great coffee flavor, but the mouthfeel is a bit slick for my taste. Downright oily, and the carbonation faded a bit quickly. I think it's going to age well, though. It's not a big coffee hit like some others I've had, far more integrated in the body of the beer itself.

It has been a double IPA night. Double Daisy Cutter, and Double Crooked Tree. Goes really well with Financial Accounting problem set.

I had a Zombie Dust earlier. Had a Daisy Cutter a little while ago. Bad decision... Can't have Daisy Cutter after ZD because it's such a downgrade. ZD is so damn good.
