I will be moving from Atlanta to Lexington this summer and wanted to scout out the craft beer scene ahead of time. I've looked up The Beer Trappe and a couple other places online. Anything else I should look forward to in Lexington?

I'm also looking for 1 or 2 IP trades if anyone is interested in local Atlanta beers. BM me.

Welcome! Look us up once you are here. In addition to The Beer Trappe, you'll want to check out:
    Beerworks (downtown)
    Shenanigans
    Country Boy (brewery)
    West Sixth (brewery)
    Blue Stallion (brewery)
    Marika's
All the Liqour Barns do growler fills. Whole Foods does growler fills as well. Shorty's just opened a bar downtown. Village Idiot and its cousin Pazzo's also have decent lists.
Lots of good stuff here and more coming. You'll find Sweetwater here and Terrapin likely on its way.

Good time to be moving to Lexington, beer-wise. The scenes in both Lex and Louisville have blown up the past few years. Welcome to the Commonwealth!

If you find the time, take a trip to Louisville. Its about an hour and fifteen West of Lexington and houses such greats as:
The Holy Grale tap house (epic must go)
    Against the Grain Brewpub
    Apocolypse (If its nice out)
    Blue Grass Brewing Co.
Sergios World Beers (bring lots of money)
and just across the river in Indiana is The New Albanian

The go to place for craft beer in Lexington is Pazzo's Pub - close to 50 beers on tap (almost all craft). Great atmosphere and good food.

Haha, not even a hint, a taste of info?

But your in good company. Lexington is booming in the craft beer. Seems like every couple months a new brewery is picking up ky. Not including all the new breweries opening up in the state.

Lexington needs a serious farmhouse/saison brewery. Plant it on the south side...down Harrodsburg rd or near horse country or Wallace Station. And we're set.

I would. But I'm not that good at brewing...And hate saisons lol...

I would love to welcome a brewery specializing in saisons, and it would be an awesome installment to our growing beer scene, though I don't honestly think it would do well. Most beer drinkers in Lexington and in the state are fairly new to craft brews and if they aren't new they tend to be hop heads. It would be cool but I don't think lexington's taste has come around to the zesty peppery side of the beer spectrum. We are a budding city and have the potential to usher in new beer tastes, it will be exciting to see what happens.

I think you'll find Kentucky enjoys really good distribution. If you're moving to Lexington you might also want to take the drive up to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area some Saturday. It's an easy drive, there are some good breweries and bottle shops you can visit, and you'll find several beers in Ohio not (yet) distributed to Kentucky.
