And many of facks were given.

"The bipartisan package that amends many state liquor laws would change the definition of a microbrewery, doubling production limits from 30,000 barrels to 60,000 barrels a year. It also would accelerate liquor licensing by creating a conditional license for use during applicants’ license review process. Startup craft brewers would be allowed limited self-distribution."

“Frankly, 60,000 is another arbitrary cap. We arrived at it by multiplying the current cap by two,” Cotter said in an interview. “I have a lot of confidence that we’re going to butt up against that threshold in the coming years.”

The self distribution will help small start ups, though I think it does not void agreements with distributors already in place.

The only way I see this not passing is if they drop the self distribution. While it seems like a great idea, too many distributors would pitch a fit that they're not getting their share. I sure hope it does pass though! More beers and even better, hopefully more bottled beers.

It passed. Gov. Snyder needs to sign it into law. From the article.

"The legislation passed the House and Senate on Wednesday and is expected to reach Gov. Rick Snyder’s desk soon."

Edit - a guy starting up this summer said previous distribution contracts are not voided by this. Only small one can self distribute, don't know the size limit.

Thanks again. I had heard of the increased number of tasting rooms and more brewpubs in a chain.

It will make for more breweries, taprooms, and brewpubs.

A guy I know starting up will be happy, he was saying self distribution would be great for him.

I was hoping they would have allowed Brewpubs to self-distribute as well. Still, good news.

Thanks Joe, I was digging around for more information in regards to this bill.

Edit: Am I only one excited about branded glassware, etc? It's about freaking time!

No problem. I'm probably the only person who pulled up all of the different bills to compile the information.
