Have a "mystery beer" that has been banging around for (no kidding) about 2 decades. Label long since destroyed. Clear bottle, light colored beer with a green chile pepper (looks like jalapeno) in it. Partially dissolved with a good amount of sludge/sediment in it. Beer is a leftover/souvenir that has been bounced between the fridges of a few friends since a backpacking/hiking trip to AZ/UT in 1994 or 1995. Beer was purchased in that area, possibly in/around Moab, UT or Sedona, AZ. No idea how foul this thing could taste by now. New member here. -Is posting images restricted to certain # of posts? Have a bottlecap pic that perhaps people could identify. Cant find an upload button. Do I need to upload it somewhere else and link it?
It was pretty foul in 1995: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/677/38763/ I did use quite a few bottles for making chile when I lived in SLC, but not recommended for actual drinking.
Oh you lucky dog! That's a Cav'e Du Kreik Chil'e du Bier Total Whalez bro, either trade it for some Hunapu de Hype or drink it nice and warm. Cheers
Looks like Cave Creek it is. Thanks! Have no recollection of buying/drinking the rest of the 6 pack of these, but then it was 20 years ago. Must have been one of the other folks on the trip responsible for this one. Only beer I remember from that trip was in growlers from a brewpub in Moab. No intention of cracking it open, but having a great time reading all the horrible reviews the stuff gets when fresh. Can't imagine 2 decades of aging would do anything to help it, and the clear bottle has probably caused it to skunk severely on top of it all...
Wow. I can't believe it , but I think I would almost break down and actually enter the trading quagmire to obtain this vintage Cav'e du Kriek. Don't know what I have up here in the PNW that could jog that bad boy loose.
