I wouldn't drink draught Guinness if there was real ale available, but when I do end up drinking it I usually find it surprisingly palatable.

Guinness Foreign Extra is another matter. Best stout in the world.

I would think that would be fairly easy to do- especially when it comes to picking out Guinness. I've never seen all three on draught at the same time, but I did do it with Guinness and Murphy's once- that classic sour note really did separate the two ( and I kind of preferred it, myself).

Sweet Jesus I wish I was in Dublin right now at the Porterhouse drinking Wrassler's XXXX. I challenge anyone to have a pint of that and still look at Guinness in a positive way ever again.

If this is the case, I'm off to find that new Belgian-Brazilian import called, Bud...weiser, I think it was?

The Guinness in America is not Irish, it's brewed in Canada or something. Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is brewed in Ireland...(I think). Anyway it's much better.

and for god's sake, if you're ever in Ireland and anywhere near Cork please visit here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2294/

I showed up around noon and was welcomed by the head brewer and had an amazing private tour including a brilliant explanation of decoction mashes

"All the GUINNESS® sold in the UK, Ireland and North America is brewed in Ireland at the historic St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin."

    Hmmmmm...

Yeah, call up their toll free number in the US and quote them the label on Guinness Extra Stout:
...and they'll tell you they MEANT the FAQ to read:
At least, that's what they told me 5 or 6 years ago.

Still haven't fixed that yet, huh? Man, their web dude must really be busy

Because regardless of where it's brewed, people look for and associate beers with where their roots are, not their current location.

Would you look for Oskar Blues or Sierra Nevada in the North Carolina area of your favorite shop? Or Lagunitas in Chicago? or Goose Island in NY (or Colorado if you're west)? No...because you will always associate those beers with their root location no matter where the actual beer comes from.

In 1930's Bolton, Guinness was drunk pretty much exclusively by women (according to The Pub and the People).
