I've yet (keyword: yet) to be in a situation where I had to pronounce something off-the-wall and ran the risk of looking like an idiot, but I've seen a few incidents that made me chuckle.

"Can I get a pint of this... uh... Traps Rock 10?"

I went to the bottle shop yesterday and there was a guy in front of me, whose first language obviously is not English, asked for the price of a bottle of "uh-row-gahnt... bas-tarred..." The poor guy was clearly struggling and the cashier had no clue. Luckily, the owner picked up on it and got him on his way.

And my personal favorite... A friend of mine who's a Canada-native, but in PA for school accompanied me to the bar one night. It took him about three minutes to order a Yuengling. "Can I get a... You-eng-ling... Young-Ling... YING-LING. YEAH! Can I get a yingling?"

Ummmm, it is Spanish, my dude. Lagunitas means little lagoons or little lakes. This may come as a surprise but half the cities, towns and counties in California (and the rest of the west) are Spanish words, names, surnames.

i think what he's saying is its being pronounce La (space) Gunitas, translated "the gunitas"; so the spanish doesnt make sense. Lagunitas on the other hand has a literal translation, little lagoons as you said. only offering insight cause ive definitely heard it pronnounced this way ha

My buddy used to call it Fram-Boise. Like as in Idaho. I corrected him. Now he just does it to be a dink.

An added question to the topic: do you guys know anyone that pronounces common beer acronyms?

For example, a buddy of mine refers to SNPA as "sin-pa" and Stone RIS ("ris" being pronounced like the first syllable in "risen"). I don't know if this is more commonplace than I think, or if he really is just weird, lol.

Sorry if this has been said, but The Bruery Bois pronounced "bwa" and not "boys"... like when people were talking about mixing White Chocolate with Bois and Black Tuesday with Bois to make White boys and Black boys. All good though!

In a local growler shop - a few weeks ago - a fellow customer looked up at the blackboard and said that he would like a small growler of Red Brick "Scared Cow", instead of Sacred Cow. As it was amusing, I saw no reason to correct him.

What about Gose? I hear most people say it like "so it goes" but officially I believe it's "go-zuh". Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation I think.

I believe you're thinking of geuze - that's pronounced ger-zuh. Gose and geuze are different. For the record, I've never had either, so maybe I'm off the mark.
