 i would have to say porters. it hides well between stouts and IPA's.

I would have to say Saisons and Red Ales. However, for the sake of Red Ales, not many breweries are producing Red Ales that are widely distributed.

Porter isnt underrated. Kolsch on the other hand...

Agreed with DarkDragon, Kolsch is an excellent style of beer that doesnt get enough credit. Same with Altbiers.

Also Dopplebock which like Kolsch is a German style that a lot of American Craft breweries dont make but hey we get tons of IPA's though.:grinning:

Seconding Kolsch...it's a style that I think too many brewers think is easy, but when they're done right they're delicious.

Lagers, berliners, and saisons. Yes, I know a lot of breweries are making these styles. But walk into your local store and see how many of these you see made by craft brewers. Not many.

    Brown ales or ESB's.

    Overrated: Imperial IPA's.

What is our American obsession with "extreme?"

Maybe all the fast food has killed our palate?

Altbier. Southampton makes (or made) a great one. Haven't seen it in awhile.

Not that I'm disagreeing at all, but you might be able to find Schlafly Bier De Garde around you (they distribute to PA) as a year-round 750mL. As for Doppelbocks, Bell's Consecrator hit stores a couple of weeks ago.

I'd have to say session beers outside of IPAs, Stone Levitation coming to mind. Uinta has a couple, and session schwarzbiers seem to be somewhat popular, but nothing compared to how popular session IPAs seem to be. Not that I'm knocking them, either.

Also, Old Ales and Wee Heavies.

The entire Bock family gets very little love/hype whether it's bock, dopplebock or maibock.
