I only had one at Churchkey in DC, they have since had a keg of it again.

I think it's a fascinating style, and I am curious how other brewers in Czech Repub put their spin on it, cause I have only had one. The one I had I thought was one of the most interesting and unique beers I have had in a long time. The style (Polotmavý) is a Czech amber lager.

Came here to say exactly this. While I understand and enjoy the extreme examples of brewing, there is something about the simple ones that I really enjoy. Of course, there are plenty of bad examples of these out there - and they don't have bushelsbof hops or Bourbon barrels to hide behind, so any faults are magnified.

Notch brewing in Mass made one I believe. I'm not an expert in Czech styles and if Chris sees this and I'm wrong, he can straighten it out. But I believe this is what you're talking about. Not sure when it was last brewed, but like all of their offerings, I tried it and thought it was well brewed. Would be nice to see a few more examples of this in the US if this is what you are talking about.

I'm holding out hope that one day we won't be coming to these threads to post this. I want to believe that tide is slowly turning, but I could be wrong.

Definitely this. Had a Prima Pils last night and it's amazing how good a simple, clean (albeit a bit hoppy) lager can be.

Altbiers, ESBs, dunkels, helles lagers seem to get little attention compared to IPAs, Double IPAs, Imperial IPAs, Double Imperial IPAs etc...

Roggenbiers. Only had Live Oak's, but the rye character in it was wonderful.
