I think at 3 months, most IPA's do. I disagree with many on it needing to be "super fresh," but everyone has different tastes i suppose. For me, Jai Alai is still great up until the 10th week so, and really takes a dive after 3 months. I regularly keep a six pack in the fridge and sometimes finish it over the course of a month or so. I don't really ever notice a great difference in it over the time, so long as i do so within a couple months.

Today i had the great fortune to try a can from October 2013 at an establishment in downtown Orlando. Needless to say, it was pretty fucking terrible. I should have said something, but i paid the $5 for it and that was that. So i can say with certainty, do not drink 6 month old Jai Alai.

Please let us know which establishment it is so we do not frequent it.

I agree. Sometimes it tastes awesome, other times it's really awesome.

    I just bought a 12pk dated 3/12
I've never wanted to return a 6er of JA before but these two are just absolute shit! It's so far from the JA I fell in love with 2yrs ago. I live in SW Fla and this is supposed to be fresh and great beer but IMO this is as far from it as I've ever had.
I am truly saddened....if the next 12pk of fresh JA is like this, it will be my last!!!!

I wouldn't say my last two batches tasted like sh*t, but it's certainly not what I remember a < 1 month old Jai Alai tasting like in the past.

it's possible you just don't like the beer anymore. i had the same thing happen with Two Hearted. i loved that beer then just one day i really started hating Centennial hops and now i can't drink it at all.

I've had Jai Alai where it blew me away and made me think, "Why am I not drinking this IPA exclusively?" then the next time I buy it, it doesn't taste quite as amazing. Probably my palette, as others have noted. However, it seems like the times that it has been amazing, more often than not it's been when I've bought cans that were super fresh (less than 2 weeks since canned). I'm probably being snobbish but with so many other options out there, I tend to check the dates and buy whichever of the good IPAs on the shelf is the freshest. I had Due South Cat 5 recently (canned) and it was really good.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone else had issues with the can dates on all of the CCB stuff being completely illegible? This has been consistent for a few months now and kind of defeats the purpose.

Wow I'm glad someone finally said it. I did however pick up a sixer of High Seas Kohatu that says "2/20/14"(?) I think. It is 38% more legible than recent cans that I have seen.

I'm sure alot of people would appreciate that.

Being in ATL, I'm sure we don't get the prime fresh stuff all that often, but I wanted some recently, and couldn't tell what the hell the date was so I passed on it for some Hopzilla.

My dad almost exclusively drinks Jai Alai and Guinness nowadays with the occasional Two Hearted in there to mix things up. He thinks Jai Alai is the best beer in the world, and he thinks it's incredibly consistent. I believe the man, since he is the number 1 Jai Alai fan.

While we're complaining about this awesome beer...I'll add that every pop top ring has grease underneath it that gets on your fingers. First world, but just an FYI.

OK, it's settled, CCB please enroll everyone on this thread (except the employee) into the El Catador club. Also, please ship us all a few flats of Jai Alai.

Yep. I've passed on Jai Alai since before Christmas for this exact same reason. I know it's 'snobby' but if I can't read the canning date it's not worth the gamble IMO.

Agree, they need to fix the printer. If I can't read the date, I don't buy it.
