On site consumption only for some bottles (like Lost Abbey, Pizza Boy, etc) is a relatively "clean" solution other than the occasional bathroom dwelling dingbat recapping bottles.

Man that FB response to their release issues just reminds me of CCB's employees reaction of "First world problems!" when Hunapu Day went to shit.

Some brewers probably just think their customers are disposable inconveniences more than anything.

Seems like there is alot of Butthurt on this thread... Tired Hands and Jean for that matter are very simple. I have been to all but one TH bottle release in the last year, it is very simple get there at or before 9am hang with some good people, drink a few good beers, and get your bottles. Show up any later then that you are fighting crowds and bottle limits. I have never been shut out. if you got shut out and you are complaining shame on you. I bartend and work til 3am or later on friday and saturday and i get my ass up and out of bed at 7am to get there in a timely fashon(i live about 45 mins away) so get your ass out of bed and wait in line for 3 hours and have some fun or stop bitching.

It's not people bitching about getting shut out...the point is people wasting hours standing in line before getting shut out. Do you see the difference? Do you see how easy it would be for the brewery to prevent this?

It's not their responsibility to let u know u are gonna get bottles or not, they give u information you take it and use it how u will... So they said 400 were bottled, do u really think they sold all 400? Get real... Some people get special privileges it the nature of the beast, and they are gonna keep some of the bottles as well my estimate 330 bottles were sold. Again it is very simple show up early and get ur bottles.

TH is in a position to almost costlessly solve many of the problems raised in this thread. You don't find it problematic that they've chosen not to? What an incredible position to take.

I maybe in the minority on this issue I don't see that many problems with TH bottle releases, like I said I been to almost all of them, never gotten shut out, and have had a great time everytime with this past Sunday being the best one yet as my network of beer buddies is quickly expanding. My biggest problem is getting a table or a growler at a bottle release, that I can deal with or come back later... Once again it is a very simple process and everyone wants to make it complicated... If people don't like how Jean conducts bottle releases don't come, he won't care. I'm pretty confident he will not be changing this process until the new factuality is up and running.

I've been to a bunch and I thought this was the smoothest yet!

Cash only kept the line moving and made it easier to pay at the bar for food/drinks early. Starting to get to know all the faces.

That was actually me saying that mythaeus was 170 in line because of the "count" when he got there. I will say that I based that on what the door guy said, and not to patronize, but he's probably not thinking it through when he does it. My counts at previous events have been pretty accurate, I count heads and line space (where people have likely left to go get mcdonalds or pickup an ihop order). Lots of people in their cars pouring coffee into their coffee cups pretty frequently. I myself made like 6 trades. I'm sure when I walked to the front of the line from the back it looked like I was cutting to some, but I was in line since 8am, as usual, and after about 20 minutes of standing in my spot, I started meeting people and sharing coffee over beer tales. I didn't see anyone moving to the front that I didn't see around the whole day.

I don't think tickets would matter much, because there's not that much cutting. I feel like most of these ideas would make the line more unpleasant for everyone while they are waiting for 2-5 hours.

I was up in boston the weekend before and saw a bottle at Night Shift, so if they bottled 400...some clearly got out early, plus believers. probably puts the bottle count around 340-350 for the release. Although they could have meant they had 400 for Sunday. Those line counts are hard to get a solid count at times because of so much walking back and forth, food runs, etc. Honestly i think people are blowing this out of porportion. They dropped the bottle limit to 2 to try adn get more people bottles. Back into the Emptiness was 3 per person, and i think out of the emptiness was 6 per person (though i could be wrong)

If everybody got there early, wouldn't you just end up with the same people standing in line longer to not get beer?

That's exactly what's happening, and now with this most recent release, will happen on a bigger scale.

Most of the people who go to TH releases are at most (if not all) of them, so it'll be the same group of people out-earlying each other to get bottles. While there's nothing wrong with showing up early to ensure an opportunity to buy bottles, if you show up an hour and a half or two hours early, it would be nice to know that you've made the cut. That way, if you missed out, you can go get a nice breakfast somewhere and come back at noon to get in the pub line and grab a beer/growlers before the bottle line fills up the bar area.

Seriously? The point is that many people who have posted on here were there early enough and probably did line counts, etc. and realized that they were OK. Then after line cutting which is at least acknowledged enough by the brewery to "patrol" with dipshits who instead spend their time talking and allow others to continue to jump in line, people who thought they were OK suddenly aren't.

The other thing being discussed is that TH might not be able to count to say 400.

I stopped going to this place other than an occassional request from others because of a multitude of reasons. The point is that there are continuing problems that aren't addressed.

Is it REALLY that difficult to announce HOW MANY bottles are going to be for sale?

How bout someone just makes their own tickets and hands them out to everyone who gets in line...wear a leather jacket though so we all know you're running some vigilante beer security!

    And regarding tickets:
If there was a time announced to start distributing tickets, wouldn't people line up for tickets, and all the same problems ensue for the ticket line?

Yes, but if you have ticket 187 and there are 200 tickets, you know you're good. If you're 187th in line and there are cutters, etc you could drop back past the cutoff point. The line would be to both lock up your spot and ensure that the people there at the time of handing out tickets actually get their bottles. It would likely confirm the count, because the brewery would have a "for sale" bottle total and hand out tickets accordingly.

You could take it a step further and let everyone with a ticket stop by at any point on release day to pick up their bottles. That would cut down on the overcrowding inside the bar and long waits for growler fills which has to be tough for the staff to handle as well. Again, I doubt any of this will be an issue after the new place gets up and running, but it might make life easier for customers and the TH folks in the meantime.
