Looks like I'm missing this one. If anyone wants to grab an extra bottle or two, I am in Tampa for another 2 days, and I could pick something up for you. Bm me

Bells General Store says " We dont have any, I dont know if it has been distributed I only know what we have in our store". Guy has to be so sick of answering Black Note calls today haha.

    c) Bad (or genius) marketing.
Oh well, since I've never tried it I guess I won't miss it. Guess I'll have to be content with my 8 bottles of KBS :slight_frown:

Should it be time to start the Bell's Black Note (2014) release thread?

Does anybody know if BN gets distributed to PA? I'd love to finally try one!

Just had the 2012 and 2014. Some of the differences below are certainly attributable to a year in the cellar, but here's my initial thoughts:
    - 2012 had more milk chocolate and vanilla, while 2014 had more barrel and char. 2012 was easier drinking, while 2014 showed a bit more depth and complexity of flavors and also a bit more change in the palate as it warmed up. Just going off memory, I don't think the 2012 had this much barrel/char character, even when fresh.
    - No alcohol heat from either of them, and the bourbon is subdued but present throughout.
    - Mouthfeel was similar, but I would give the edge to 2014. The 2014 had a bit more of an oily thickness to it, but neither was thin by any means.
    - Both are delicious.

The differences are definitely more subtle than dramatic. While I don't think the 2012 would benefit from any additional time in the cellar, I am curious what a year might do to the 2014. Perhaps it lands in the same place, but I suspect it may round into something a touch nicer and more complex (unless you like the smooth chocolate character of the 2012).

    Lot number as promised:

9 days from bottled to being on shelves in Minneapolis? I don't think Hopslam has ever arrived here that quickly?

Got some today as well - confused and surprised that we have it before anyone else, but won't hear me complaining!

Don't think you'll miss it completely, it will probably roll out over the course of the week. Sounds like it won't be hitting shops here on the east side of the river until late this week.

That is some good news for someone that lives on the east side of the river. Might be the one time I am grateful for a slow, painful beer release.

How would you compare Black Note to the Usual suspects... BCBS, KBS, etc...?

Honestly, I prefer Black Note over either of them.

less heat than BCBS, not really a coffee stout like KBS. smoother and creamier than both. if you have had both expedition stout and double cream stout then just imagine a combo of those in bourbon barrels.
