3 out of 4 of my bottles so far have been hefty, but they've been drained by friends within seconds, so, they taste great to us.

To clarify, for those 3 hefty bottles the bottoms of our glasses weren't complete sludge but the sides were well coated with fruit puree.

Is it true Smoking Wood is being made available to the public buyers?

Yes, it's available for non-society members right now.

Oh good, a bigger market now offered something they won't want to buy.

What's the big knock on it? Looked at BA reviews, and feedback didn't seem too bad. Though this thread seems pretty heavily opposed.

It's just a bit extreme in its smokyness and roastyness. It's a love it or hate it beer. I'm among several that absolutely love it, but we are in the minority.

Ah, thanks. Makes a bit more sense now. I'll probably pass based on that description, though can understand why there's love for it too.

Eventually, they'll start to offer a vertical during the 12 Days of Christmas sale.

Nope. It also has pedio and lacto. Of the primary fermentation, it's 100% brett (as opposed to saccho).

I didn't think it was that smokey. But come to think of it, I was three deep sitting downwind of a campfire....

Hahah, I must not be very sensitive to the smoke, maybe because of all the campfires of the past, so I like it.

It's one of my favorite smoked beers, price point is what gets me.

I mean, it's great if I want to add some liquid smoke to some meat, but yeah. I was in the "hate" group with that beer. Way too smokey.

I personally feel that the Bourbon barrel aged version was much better than the Rye, but still I dont understand why they keep making this beer.

Smoking Wood: Perhaps the only Bruery beer more polarizing than Or Xata.

I think it's delicious, especially the rye version.
